Ok so I would like to say that I am somewhat competent when it comes to car audio, as in I can install the basics and set up somewhat of a decent system. However I am pretty lost when it comes to anything past basic. For example component speakers I have yet to try to tackle and multiple amp systems I have yet to try, tho I think ive got that mostly figured out.

All of my knowledge has come from reading shit online and just figuring stuff out, yet Im looking for some help/advice/information.

I am currently running 2 SVC 10" 4ohm Polk MM subs off of a 2 channel Kenwood KAC-7205. So if my knowledge serves me correctly im pushing around 170 watts to each speaker. It sounds alright but im just trying to get a little more.

So my thought process is get another amp to power my subs, and use my current one to power speakers. Tho I have a few concerns with this. First being the amp. It is not very adjustable and doesnt have a high pass filter, only a low pass. So would it be an ok amp to run to a pair of speakers in the front doors with such a lack in adjustability?

Second concern is the amount of power that it is putting out, compared to my speaker ratings, which IIRC is about 50 RMS. (just some basic kickers non component). Now I know its good to have more power going to the speakers, however this seems like too much more power. Is my assumption correct?

My next thought is on the new amp that I would get. Would I be better off running a mono amp and pushing around 500 watts to the two speakers?

I wouldnt be completely objective to running new speakers, possibly component speakers, just would have to research them more, tho from what ive seen their power handling doesnt exceed much more than what im currently running.

Now im no audiophile and dont need top of the line sound, just looking for a bit louder and cleaner while louder as my speakers are wanting to wash out at louder volumes. Open to any info/ suggestions/ opinions. Lookin to learn here.

Also im running a pioneer avhp4300 receiver so im not trying to do this off a stock headunit :p
    Thanks guys

The Subs: The subs look good but I wish they were dual voice coil so you had more connection options.

The Amp: The amp would work better for what you have in mind I think if you bridge it for sub output, but it's got a minimum impedance of 4 Ohms so your only option for using this amp with those subs is to series them into 8 Ohms and bridge the amp, or to use only one sub, for what will probably only be a marginal improvement.

The Head Unit: Your HU does high and low pass filtering, so you can power door speakers through your existing amp using the head unit's filter and run the amp full bandwidth. Using some common sense regarding levels you won't blow your speakers.

So that amp should be ok to power the speakers, in that case id probably get a mono amp to power the subs. Anybody have experience with hifonics?

The amp and subs is your call. I know nothing about Polk. I do believe DVC subs handle heat a little bit better though since current is distributed between two coils instead of one. As for your door speakers, do you have tweeters? If you run your door speakers and tweeters in series, you will split the power between the two. Its a thought, maybe just put a bass blocker before it hits the tweeter. Not necessarily the right answer, but its a cheap way to make it work.

Please give us more information about your door speakers.

You can use the amp you have now to power your door speakers. You would need to turn the filter off at the amp and set your HPF on the headunit. The door speakers will be fine with that amount of power. You need to make sure that the gain on the amp is set properly though.

For the subs, whatever amp you chose if it is mono will be presented with a 2ohm load. So any amps that you look at, be sure they are stable at 2ohms and put out the amount of power that you are looking for.

So the HPF on the headunit will still work if the speakers are run off of an amp?

Would i still be able to run a LPF off the amp for the subs?

How should I set up the equalizer on the HU?

I ran 0 gauge in my truck and it is overkill for what I have, but I would rather run it once and have the ability to upgrade than have to pull new wire through. You need to figure out what amplifiers you are going to run for the speakers and subs and how many amps of current they can pull at their maximum. From there you can decide on wire gauge. 4 gauge is usually sufficient from the distribution block to the 2 amps but again this is all based on how much current the amps can draw.

should the HPF be set off my speaker range or is there generally a good number to stick around?

Generally you start around 80hz and work from there. You don't want to go too low and too high will give you a lack in midbass. You need to find a good medium where your mids pick up where your sub leaves off. It should all sound basically like one unit if that makes sense.

If you use a HPF on your head unit, make sure that there is a seperate subwoofer out feature or it will be cutting out all your bass to your subs. I'm pretty sure you have one on your head unit, but just making sure. For power wire, I would stick with 4 guage. Should be more than enough for 700 watts, use a distribution block at your amplifiers to break it down. . 0 guage is HUGE to route thru your vehicle. I think the rest has been adequately answered.

When I asked around a couple of years ago, the general consensus was that Hifonics has some problems. I have no personal experience with them, but when I was researching that is what I found.
