Yeah, my membership is about $100/month and I'm student as well as govt employee... It blows, but you do what you've gotta I suppose. I have become far too frustrated with not getting results, and finally decided to do this. I am paid through the beginning of April. If I do not make good gains by then, I will take my money elsewhere.

Just stick with it. You have to go more than 2 or 3 times a week, which is still good. Make sure you are eating right, that is my biggest problem. :(

I go 3 times a week without fail. I feel like going more would be overtraining with a workout like this... No? And I am trying to put on weight so if it is in front of me, goddamn it I'll eat it. I am up about 9 lbs since I started CF in early December

I go 5 times a week and have a blast. I have noticed a change definitely in the 3 months I have been doing it. Big thing is just make sure you have a good diet. One thing I have learned is to definitely rest on your rest days. It sucks to not do anything, but your body needs the rest.

I'm planning on trying out crossfit soon

Someone donated an old building to my dept for use as a gym, and we hired a crossfit instructor who runs classes 6 days a week of all fitness levels

I'm waiting till all the ass-kissing and people who are going to be seen going stop going...then i'll start hitting it up on my days off

That is awesome your Dept. is doing that. I heard one of our neighboring offices turned their gym into a crossfit gym, which I think would be awesome.

I'm thinking of upping the # of days that I go a week. I no longer am sore the day following a workout. I would say that it's because I am not pushing, but I most definitely am.

I'm always sore, but its a good sore. I finish my WOD, then hangout and work on different things. I'd rather work to hard then not hard enough.

    Thats freaking awesome
most Gyms preach 3 on 1 off or 5 on 2 off. You wont over train yourself since it's all different types of training. You may do alot of cardio one week and powerlifting the next.
I do the same. Fran kicked my ass today but I stayed alittle afterwards to work on my double unders.

The problem there though is that with CF, you train just about every body part every day. There is no time for recovery. I am not saying that it is or isn't right, it just goes against conventional thinking. But I guess pretty much all of CF does...

You pretty much answered your question. You train every part of your body but its body parts that you use everyday. The info I put out is from Crossfit HQ. Over training usually happens when your at the gym for hours. Lifting and doing whatever. At Crossfit your only there 1 hour for a WOD. Most of everything you read and see on TV says to do atleast 1 hour of activity a day.

Also when you do full body movements thats just it. It doesnt just target one specific muscle group and kill it to the point of muscle failure and breakdown. Most of it is core and you cannot over train your core. Now you can kill yourself doing back extensions all day everyday but at controlled levels you can do it everyday. Your CF trainer should know what he is posting on the board and have his entire WODs planned out for how ever long. Your will not over train only doing 1hr a day. Also are you taking any suplements? That is important in recovery also. Most CF'ers do 3 on 1 off 365 days a year with now propblems Just give it a try and see how your body reacts to it. If you feel okay then continue. If you are hurting too much then lay off. Just give it a try and dont let talk yourself out of it.

Yeah, I am in no place to argue over what is right or wrong. I was just saying that from what I know from the lifting I did before Crossfit, you don't want to hit anything without at least a day of rest between. I have been doing CF for a little over a month now, and though I haven't seen any physical results, I do feel as thought the workouts are becoming more tolerable. I am known for very poor endurance, so this is good for me to get beat up on by these cardio fit guys and girls.

As far as supps go, I take a multi and fish oil 3x a day. I take a mass builder protein shake immediately following a workout (I'm 6'2" 190lbs, Used to be heavier but blew my shoulder out). I also take a Casein shake every day right before bed.

Haha I know what your saying man. I used to lift alot when I was in Iraq and most of my Active Duty life. Sometimes I may even think WTF? We just did Squats and now we are doing deadlifts? I was used to only doing a specific muscle group once a week. I'm about 60-80% Paleo right now and I can really see a difference. With your lifting backround I can see your supps are in order as I take the same but with added clacium, vitamin D and Magnesium. Also I dont take a mass builder but only whey iso post workout and a good per-workout to wake me up in the morning.

You have to look at CF in a different light. Your not doing the movments to get big but your doing functional and power movments to increase your overall fitness.

I just picked up some Vit D to start taking as well actually. I just don't know what to expect is all. I kept getting hurt lifting because I wasn't getting results, so I would go harder. I am naturally an ectomorph, so putting on the mass is really tough for me. I am doing Crossfit to try something different. And I don't necessarily want to be jacked, but I would like to be to the point where people can definitely tell I work out if they were just looking at me. I also want to feel like I am better off than most other people around me.
