Hey guys, my 20th Bday is coming up and ive been wanting to get this tattoo for my mom who passed away three years ago, I know i cant believe ive waited this long...

Anyways Long depressing story, made short i didnt see her for the last year of her life and her and i became very distant. When she passed away i recieved all her belongings (which werent much as she was homeless with a horrible drinking problem) But in her backpack i found her "five wishes" and one of the questions says, What do you want your loved ones to know if you pass before you can say them in person. and wrote me: Tell Jon i love her very much, and i never stopped. And at the very bottom she wrote, Remember Jon: "Write your Anger, Then your Love" Ever since ive read that ive made it a life goal to get that tattooed on my body so now im doing it for my birthday.

I just need some opinions on where a good place to put it would be? I was thinking of putting it across my forearms with Write your Anger on my left forearm and Then your Love on my right forearm. But id like to get her name by it somewhere so i don't know how i could incorporate that... Any ideas would be awesome!

    Thanks guys!

I hope people can learn from your sad event. Never go to bed being mad at a loved one.

I have a tat but I'm not a fan of them at this point in my life. But I like your plan.

i'm personally NOT a fan of forearm tattoos solely because it limits you to long sleeves in any professional environment...and you just dont know where life will take you when you are 20 years old

With that said, I like the ribcage ideas, or just do it all in script on your left chest

I forgot to say the forearms thing before...It is a good point. Right now it'll be an awesome conversation piece...but when you are looking for a job down the line it can be a HUGE hindrance.

That was more or less why I came up with the other areas. You can also do something on the back of the leg centered around the calf....

The tattoo I have in honour of my brother who passed away is on my back between my shoulder blades but my quote is also a lot longer. Just because of the size of yours i'd agree with them ^^ definitely go sides of ribcage

I don't like tattoos, but this sounds honorable, so do it. I think on your left chest close to your heart is a good spot.

Just one question, I don't really get what it means: "write your anger"?
Care to explain (or am I just a dummy?)

I wish i knew as well, my mom had very poetic ways of speaking her words, To me it sounds like you should always get anger out of the way before you start to love. Ribcage would be my second choice but would freakin kill haha im skinny so i dont got much meat to soften the needle pricks.

    Lots.
One of the most understated tattoos that I have thought about getting myself is a one that simply reads... ASNF

    A Son Never Forgets.

You don't have to get all that ink. You'll know what it means when you look at it and in the end that's all that matters. You could get a really flashy tattoo or something that is understated that focuses on sentimental value and not attracting attention.

care to exsplain what she loved? like flowers or a story she always told you? some type of object that you two shared... be sick if it had more than just words to it.

also for the script put it in quotes with moms name showing that she was the one who said it

    like such
"Write your Anger, Then your Love" - Mom(her real name) maybe incorperate a date with it

the ribs would be a breat spot to put like the left ribs still close to the heart but yet the pain to have it there for you to remember ur pain was overcome by love

i'm not sure about the tat placement, but maybe what your mom was saying was, you can communicate your anger (ie why you are mad at someone, let it out) but make sure you also communicate or remind them that you still love them too. said another way, you can be pissed off at someone and love them at the same time, and if you do tell them your pissed off, don't forget to also tell them that you still love them. don't leave them with just the angry message.

i think it's kind of a cool sentiment.

    good luck with the tat.

Do the sides of your ribs maybe? One part on each side.

Left rib cage: "Write your anger"
Right rib cage: "Then your love"

I was wondering if she meant "right" instead of "write" I.e. make right what causes anger, then work on love, I.e. you won't be able to work on love if there is anger in the way.

Sorry, I don't want to confuse the issue ( I would just hate for you to get a tattoo and then realize that there was a typo.)

Anyway, it is a honorable idea. Good luck with the future. I am sure you have already learned something through all this.

I got one on my ribs and im 6'2" and 165. Yeah it was painful but the end result was worth it. This way you can cover it up easily for work etc. and still be able to show it off without having to pull your whole shirt off. I've always liked tattoo's over the heart especially if they have meaning. Best of luck

Thank you everyone, Im going to go talk to my tattoo guy hopefully this coming weekend and see what he thinks... Its been so long i dont remember what we had in common... I remember she always used to call me Johnny rotten and we used to totally rock out to Metallica and godsmack. Whatever i get, i get for her. I dont need any tattoo to remind me of her. I think about her everyday of my life.
