differential case clicking?

searched before cant find answers. used my 4h for the first time yesterday in snow. everythings fine. go to turn off and sounds like its half ingaged. truck is 2011 12k miles. backed up a whole block to disengage and put in and out a couple of times. sound went away. i here to engage every once and a while to keep lubed. is this what happened and how often should i throw into gear to keep it ok in summer. thanks for any help

 

You don't have to back up to disengage

A slight click when it goes in or out is nothing out of the ordinary .

 

in and out clicking i understand is normal its just it clicked while i was driving down the road after i turned off .i just wanted to know if this was what it sounds like if it didnt disengage all the way. i guess i'll try a few times to see if thats all it was.
