total chaos

i know i only have the stock replacement lowers but i also know a few of you guys run TC LT kit. for the ones who do run the kit the piece of metal around the lower uniball is it rusting on you already? i have only had my lowers on since the end of november no beach runs or near the ocean or anything. and its rusting already will get pics up tomorrow but are any of you guys experiencing this?

Wish I could help from experience, but I do not have the lower uniballs on my TC kit.

I do not know if that part is powder-coated, but if it isn't, regular paint (not clear coated) can rust sometimes pretty quick, especially down near the road where water and crap can get on it. That's just from my experience with other parts. Even then, sometimes the powder-coating isn't done right or thick enough.

I'm sure someone else with more knowledge and experience will help you out though.

I have the upper UCA's and the uniball is rusting on me. I installed the kit 3 weeks ago but have driven on salted roads here in Ohio. I read somewhere that another member used lithium grease to coat the uniball and it had not rusted on him for 9 months after he replaced them for rusting out the first time.

 

Yeah I use tri flow dry lube with lithium on mine get it from the bike shop

 

its cause they are black oxide plated.... call and tell pat wtf

 

Well the thing is i purchased mine through Dsm so should I go through them or just call total chaos straight up

I never regarded TC as a company that worries about corrosion due to their focus of fabrication and their location. I understand it, but some mention should be made that their balls rust after getting wet as well as some of their other parts.

TC uses chrome balls
If you are in any area near the shore or anyplace that gets snow and uses salt TC downright sucks.

My TC UCA uniballs lasted less then 9 months and I would expect LCA uniballs would be the same.

The good thing is they use a typical size so stainless balls can be used to replace them - the bad thing is we all just spend a good deal of cash and then have to upgrade the upgrade

IMO a good deal of Triflow is the best at protecting them.

 

i use the try flow. every month and inspect all of the uniballs on my suspension

 

Thats a shame...people pay good money for their stuff, only to have it rust??? I mean I know over time its gonna be inevitable but damn....2 months???

I meant for the other guy. I can tell you check your stuff otherwise you wouldn't of noticed the rusty BJ mount.

At least everyone else can cook a good coat of paint on theirs before install if they read this thread.
