I did dome research on the net today and found a 6in Fabtech lift priced at $1300. That is the cheapest I have seen it. Is this a good price or has anyone seen better? It is for 05-09 Tacos. It is a stage 1 lift with shocks, not coilovers. Also, would it look bad to run 285/60 R18 (33in tires) on them? I just can't afford the lift and the 35in tires at this point.
Any input would be appreciated!!!!!!! THANKS

I got the same lift from 4 wheel parts about 6 months ago for $1250.00 for the lift and $371.00 for the labor to have it installed.

I initally had 35's installed and they rubbed beyond what was acceptable. There would have been more trimming and cutting than I was confortable with.

I changed to the 33's and never looked back. While I liked the look of the 35's , the 33's made the truck more civilized on many levels.

Damn that is a good price! I will have to look and see if they still have it for that price. Do you have a picture of what yours looks like on 33's??

naw, those have got to be 35's by looking at how they fit. 1300 for the list isnt that bad a deal. Tough to find it anywhere for cheaper, i've looked

Wow, 4WP in NC quoted me $600 plus allignment and tax... Why cant there be a set amount of labor hours on a lift. Too much oki doke going on w/these offroad shops. Im sick of it. Had a shop try to charge me $500 to remove a shock up front, sayin in order to touch my truck he would have to rip apart the front end:eek:

Just feel prices on lift can differentiate due to competition, but installs should be similar especially between a chain of vendors.

(sorry, talking about install labor fees)

They were running some sort of special at the time. I had it done at the store in West Palm Beach Fl. I also got the rims and tires from them as well.

Not trying to look down on you lucky build.. Im actually happy that you got it done at a fair price. Just wish there could be some type of across the board standard. I am seriosly looking into the RCD setup later this year, and $800 is crap. I rather drive to a place that installs for a reasonable price, and enjoy the ride home:cool:

On the stage 1 kit 33" tires would look good. The stage 1 can't handle the 35" tires.

I have the stage 2 with the C/O's and the 35" tires still rub slightly.
    But not very bad.

That would be nice if you could send some pictures. I would love to see how they look before I buy the lift.

I llike the way the 35's look, but don't want to risk it if the stage 1 can't handle it. Besides can't afford it right now anyway for the lift and new tires HA HA

I am so nieve when it comes to lifts and parts and all the above. Is it possible to buy a lift kit one piece at a time as I get the money? And is it possile to mix/match lift kit parts?

ok........... so after doing more research I have now found the Pro Comp 6in lift for about twenty dollars less, but this one included free shipping. Any one have opinions or preferences on the Fabtech compared to the Pro Comp? I am sure there are a thousand threads on this but I am curious as to what you guys think that have already posted replies in this thread. Thanks

I vote Fabtech over Procomp. The fabtechs are known quality lifts, the procomp not so much. I've heard and known some that dont have problems with procomp and some that do, however fabtech always seems to be good reviews. The one note, the arched crossmember on the fabtech makes it much more difficult to mount a front skid plate.

Thank you for that info! I have heard good things about Fabtech. I only know about Pro Comp because of the 4wheel parts here in town, but obviously they are biased when it comes to Pro Comp. All the pictures I have seen of the Fabtech lifts show the parts to be blue. Is that the color they actually are?

no! The parts are black. (the pictures are for advertisement)
The Fabtech had an issue with the weak diff rear mount. But they have resolved that problem.
As for mounting a skid plate? Take a look at my sig. The skid just bolted to the factory mounting points.
Both Procomp and fabtech have good and bad points.
    Both are good lifts!
Some people will try and tell you that a 6" lift isn't good for offroading. that's BS!
In fact it is As Good or better in most cases.
The only bad point is a slightly higher COG. But because of the wider tires you are able to run, it's a trade off.
The 6" lift has better articulation of the suspension, because unlike the 3" lift (which is riding at almost full extent of down travel) the 6" lift maintain it's range of up & down travel, allowing you to keep all your wheels on the ground for better traction.

But I'm going off topic. (sorry)

Good luck with your lift choice!

Nothing wrong with going of topic. I value everyone's opinion on here so whatever you say is fine by me. If I do the 6in lift, would I have to upgrade any other parts to deter any future problems.... whatever those might be?

All of the Fabtech parts will be PCed black as said. They just make them their lifts 'Fabtech blue' in the shots so you can see the components.
