I'm new to the forum and am looking to buy my first Tacoma.

Its a 2009 DCLB 4x4 Auto SR5 Pyrite Mica with Tan interior 120,000 km's. The truck seems to be in great shape and is for sale at a Toyota dealership. Is there anything I should be looking for?

I'm going from a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie that gets 10 mpg. I know I can expect better mpg, but by how much for the DCLB?

    Thanks for your input.

I traded my Ram 1500 in as well, I used to get 10 with my Ram as well. I avg in the city about 16 mpg with tacoma. Highway about 21.

Anything I should look at when buying? I read a lot of reviews but nothing really stands out.

From what I gather, I should be checking to make sure the TSB's for the rear leafs has been performed. Anything else to add?

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
if it's a canadian truck, i believe they already come w/ the 4 leaf pack installed.

These trucks dont seem to really have any big mechanical issues so if it is a good price and you like it, id say go for it, especially if the dealer offers some type of warranty (i know some do here for used trucks)

this forum is a great tool, everyone is pretty decent too and will help

Ack. I believe it is. What about the tailgate one, or was that fixed for the '09 year?

Yes it is. Average is about 20,000 km/year. So you're on the money, this guy went across Canada a few times. Just hoping he was adamant about his oil changes...

My Ram has over 360,000 km and its not known for reliability like Toyota is. Fingers crossed I exceed that if I get this one.

If the vehicle is at a Toyota dealership , I would ask that they do the appropriate recommended scheduled maintenance for the km rating , which by then would include changing spark plugs and driveline fluids , as part of the deal .

Other than that go for it
