New boat

My family just got a new boat and I know i will get a chance to take it out with with my friends and use the Tacoma to Pull it.

It is a 2012 yamaha 242 limited S
It is around 5000 lbs

As far as towing:
I bought a prodigy 3 brake controller
I am going to get new brake pads before the summer

I have towed many things but not quite as heavy as this before with my truck.

Anyone tow anything similar or have anymore recommendations I could do to make my rig more capable.

I have double cab long bed with the tow package and v6

 

Looks like you should be fine. Does the 5k include the trailer? I have the I4 with a limit of 3.5k and have pulled closer to 4k without issue, just start slow and leave room for stopping. Others will chime in.

 

4869 LBS is the dry weight on the trailer

 

and the trailer is a tandem axle trailer

 

I won't hook up to it until probably April at the earliest. Just trying to get everything covered

It's a sweet boat. Can't wait to hook it up to the taco and get out on the water. Think we are going to break it in in April

 

I think he said he's got a tow package so it should already have a transmission cooler, no?

I talked to a guy with a taco when i was camping one time. He was over a couple spaces and had towed a 6300lb airstream up into the mountains of CO. You should be good to go

 

those boats are so nice! my uncle has one in texas at his lake house. it rolls man! so powerful! congrats!!

 

I have a friend that owns that same boat. You really have to be careful during slow maneuvers due to no Rutter for turning. Nothing like a stern drive. He burns anywhere from 10-13 gallons per hour running between 28-35 mph, so they do love fuel. Also got to watch turns under power cause the ass end will pass the front just like a jet ski. Truck will do OK, just keep both hands on the wheel, speed down and watch out for the other guy. Enjoy!!

 

I pull my Malibu with my Taco and have no issues. You should be fine.

Throw a few k of ballast in there and upload wake pics!!

 

Does the trailer have surge brakes? My Four Winns has surge brakes on it, as I think most boat trailers do. Something to do with the water and the electricity... What I'm getting at, is you might not need the brake controller.

Won't get to pick it up till april but have already been by to look at it.

cc350 - I test drove a couple of them before we decided to get it so i am kinda familiar with driving them. They changed them a little for the 2012. had it at about 35-40 and turn as hard as i could and it held tight.

T.J. - not sure about the brakes on the trailer. Will look more into that.

 

just looked on the website and it says disk brakes

 

Yeah, mine are disk too, but how are they actuated is what matters.
