    I think region/demographic might have a lot to do with this as well... In Iowa it is almost more beneficial to hire a woman over a man for a position, and I think that is different depending on which part of the country you're in.

    also depends what line of work. like in health care, hate to say it, but its better to hire a male dr. over female dr.

    because the kids get sick, mom has to stay home, maternity leave, time not working, money paid out for maternity leave and sick days, plus the cost of hiring a temp dr to fill in...lots o money spent and lots lost.
