I didn't process snow drift completely ... those things can be like concrete. Last windstorm at my house I had to chip a 3 ft (1 meter) drift from in front of my garage door like 3 times...frickin' blew 50 to 80 MPH (80 to 130KPH?) for 2 days. I live about 30miles direct line from the Knik Glacier .... winds off that sumbitch can be brutal.

Sooo ... NO, hitting the drift was not an option. :D

The drift went across the entire road, bus hit his section of it too. Thank god the drift wasn't too packed or it probably would've caused me to jump the truck, which, well.. you don't always recover from being airborne, no matter how good a driver you are.

I agree. I run Valvoline because a local race car driver (friend of family) replied to my question concerning which oil was best with this: "What do you see all the race car guys using?" Back in the day, in SE US (NASCAR country), it was Valvoline. Been using it ever since; 'cept the 7 yrs we lived in UK...Valvoline wasn't available--so I used Castrol...why...because that's what most of the rally cars (loved watching that shtuf) were using. ;)

My Xmas road trip 2011, the wind pressures decided to tear off the front colour surround of my OME Grille.. I discovered later that on the top passenger side of the grill, there was a black circle plastic clip I forgot to replace after I broke it during my S/c install. This 1 of the 7 missing points and wind forces broke the passenger lower rectangular mount for the grill. This caused enough movement and vibrations to slowly seperate off the grill outer colour surround.

On the highway all I heard was *snap*.... *snap snap snap snap*... like a zipper tearing away till I could finally come to a stop.

Only a few clips remained attached, so I ripped it off on the side of the road and threw it in the box.

On the same road trip I picked up the new lower valence body kit pieces, 1300$ for parts, clips, and paint. And theres my old surround.

see and thats what I figure too, I change my synthetic every 8000ish km's and I've never ever had a problem, one day i do want to send away to get an oil sample test though, I'm debating pushing it to 10,000 km's from now on.

I'm doing 'bout the same. I run full synthetic and change it every 5K miles (8K km). When we first got to Alaska, I switched to synthetic (diff car) and ran it for 8K miles (12K km); it was so black when I changed it that I didn't like the look to the point I decided 5K miles (8K km) was as far as I wanted to go. My wife puts on miles much slower than I, so I change oil in her vehicle (Ford Escape) every 3.5K miles (5.6K km).

Driving airborne without wings and thrusters is difficult at best, disasterous at worst. :D

'bout time for you to roll out, eh? :(

LOL Hiden logs in the road are a bitch.

Oil is a touchy topic, just browse Bob Is The Oil Guy to see firsthand.

I like both Castrol abd Valvoline, Quaker State not so much. My QS issues go back to the 1960's but I am guessing QS does not add paraffin to the oil any longer.

I currently use Red Line in both our vehicles. So far never an issue.

Any oil works great as long as you change it every 5,000 miles, 8000km, for our Canadian friends. ;)
