Off Road lights????

Ok, I have been searching everywhere and I seem to find that Lightforce is the best light recomended. I like the fact they are indestructible (I think thats what I saw) but I like the off road lights that have the cages on them. I am not seeing a lot of KC lights out there, are they not a good product anymore? What light do you guys suggest without breaking the bank? Any help would be awesome, Thanks.

 

OK, I am Doing the n-fab light bar, so on the front end. I Want them to have good light, but I also want them to look good, because they will be seen more than used. My target price range would hopefully be under 300 a pair, but I know that you gotta pay to play. As far as the grills, I like the looks and I seem to have a problem with branches, I know the lightforces are pretty gnarly, but I have always like the grill look.

So with it saying they are "driving lights" does that mean driving on the road, or off-roading? I doubt it will really make a difference between the two, but it just made me curious.

PIAA 520 SMR driving lights in the middle, and 510 ion crystal fogs on the outside. they light up everything, you could probably start a camp fire shining them through a magnifying glass.

 

How much did that set-up run you? If you dont mind me asking. Also where did you get them? Did you have to do anything aside from just wiring them up?

got them on ebay a couple years ago. I think i remember it being about 500 for all the lights. I got the n-fab light bar direct from them for $160. Wire them up and your ready to roll.

thanks dude. no there is no strain on the power system that i know of. everything runs fine. I dont ever leave them on longer then about 5 min with the engine off though, just to be safe.

I have a pair of PIAA 510s in the bumper and plan to replace the wimpy Hella 500FFs with a pair of IPF 900XS.

 

So if I were to run 4 of the PIAA 520 smr 6" lights, would I have a problem with the alternator or anything?

 

I doubt it, just don't leave them on overnight...

 

I've got a pair of KC Slimlites. Work like a charm. I got the long range version and they make my brights look really dim in comparison. They really help me spot possible hazards further down the road.

Another plus is that they are really narrow. I was able to put them in the mounts on my bull guard without any problems with spacing in the back. Make sure you measure where you want to put them just to make sure you have plenty of clearance.

Hold everything, I am just about to put a pair of lights behind my grill with the main purpose of having extra lighting off-road, how are the Hella 500FFs "wimpy", I want some good lights and the Hellas were what I was looking at. Just curious.

 

the hella 500s are very good for the price you pay, and the fact they are only 50W bulbs... I am running 4 of them and I really like them!

 

Yeah, sorry guys... Should have clarified that better. The 500FFs are good lights for what you pay. It's just not the kind of light output I was looking for.

 

Alright, i'm gonna order the stuff tomorrow. I cant wait to get this stuff on the rig. I think i'm gonna get the PIAA 520 smr's.
