On board air in TRD OR engine bay

I am going to put together a dual compressor on board air system. Just wondering if anyone has has any luck mounting 2 smaller compressors in the engine bay? Maybe by relocating stuff?

I've seen one mounted between the ABS module and the intake. If you need more space, look under the front bumper cover.

 

Ya saw there. I ordered 2 let's see if I can squeeze 2 in that bay somewhere!

Why two of them?

 

Cuz 1 aint enough! I have one mounted under my hood and have been wanting to hook up a second one. I'll try to snap a pic of it this weekend and post it next week.

Yes, but for me I have 1 already, buying a second would be cheap. Ideally I would get a nice fancy ARB compressor and a tank, but for now I run what I got.

 

Gotcha, makes sense. I just wasn't sure if there was an advantage to running two that someone doing it for the first time would yield.

 

2 smaller pumps is actually a lot cheaper than a single high flowing pump. They flow faster than even the highest end viair etc.

If one breaks the other will probably still work.

 

There's alot of room under the front bumper I put an air horn in there with plenty room to fit a compresser you would probably have to make a mount

the one thing that kills a compressor is heat. That is why most of them have duty cycle limits. This means mounting the compressor under the hood is not always the best idea. mounting in the bumper away from the engine heat would work, and its still close to the battery. You could run a computer fan for blowing air across the compressor head to keep it cool.

 

Ever get it setup?

 

No ended up moving and running out of money from unforseen moving costs before ordering haha. It is put on the backburner until this fall.

EDIT: Oh, the two I had ordered were on LONG backorder so never ended up getting them either. C'est la vie!

 

That's the route I'm going, I'm getting the tank as well. How bad was the install?

 

how loud is that thing? can you post a vid of it running with and without the truck running (hood down). I'm looking at getting one this fall
