Kind of miss my FJ. :(

But then I put my foot into the STi and watch that boost needle shoot up, plant me in my seat and I remember the number one thing that bugged me about the FJ. NO BALLS

So the wait for the bumper is over 6 weeks. I am too impatient to wait that long so I neglected to buy it today.

Only way I would buy one of those is if it had this done to it:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfkgP6l9gJQ

Otherwise, they are slow as hell. Yes, they have AWD and a more powerful motor than a normal GTI. But the extra weight of that AWD system pretty much brings it back down to GTI speeds.

Naw, guys have STi's with nearly 200K miles that have been running stage 2 tunes like I am since like 30K miles on their odometer. If you keep up on maintenance and don't boost every single second you're in the car, they last. *knock on wood*

I see FJ's all over my town, most of them completely stock and driven by women. That doesn't make me miss them. It's looking at nicely modified ones that gets me.

But then I think of the gas that guy is probably paying for to keep the massive tires and extra weight of all the armor moving down the road.

Those hybrid swaps are great until you have to rebuild your motor in another couple years I hear. :p Not the most reliable setup.

I did buy this car accepting the fact that I would probably have to rebuild the motor. But it's turned out to be a great, solid motor. Compression was almost completely even across all 4 cylinders.

If it breaks, I'll probably rebuild with forged pistons and rods. Stock everything else. I don't want crazy power numbers. It scares me good enough as it is.

    catching up on posts
No worries Gabe, black diamond rated trails are an asshole puckering experience

shit not only looking good but negotiating some really steep, tight obstacles, cameras never do justice, Gabe & Mario wanted to hit some harder trails before a meet & greet last Sunday & me not wheeling for awhile (truck is down) jumped all over it Gabe is already set up pretty nicely & Mario is bone stock with the exception of sliders (which they both have) It was my first ride in the new generation FJ's & have to admit was pretty impressed with their ability even in stock form....well done gents...;)

    thank God for sliders

this was only damage done (mario's stock ride) I took these guys up this trail because they would NEED sliders not because they MAY need them....

    easiest part of this trail...

Called Expedition-One today, but had to leave a message. They called back twice but I was in the middle of moving and wasn't really able to answer a phone. I will probably call them in the morning and place the order. Is there anywhere else in So Cal for OME suspension?

Did you call exp 1 for a bumper or for suspension? If it was for the OME's, hit up metal tech. They are awesome. Also, you may look into rcfreak (Krish) from the SoCal section as he gets hookups from 4wheelparts and may be able to get them quick.
