So I noticed today, that sometime within the last couple of days, the black rubber strip on top of the cab on the passenger side has come off. Is there a technical name for these? Since I'll have to get it replaced, I'd like to call it by it's official name when I talk to the shop.

PS, do these come off easily? Not sure when it did, but I suspect foul play.

They do come off. People have had them rip off in car washes, and blow off on highways. One guy on here actually suffered roof damage as it began to lift off and banged the shit out of his roof.

I'm surprised nobody has come up with an aftermarket solution that's more durable than rubber strips. Because sooner or later, the UV up where I am is just going to eat them away anyways.

Since you have a DC maybe it's time to pick up an OEM roof rack.

I have a double cab, 2010. I sent a PM to a guy in the BST section who had some for sale earlier in the month. If he doesn't have them any more, I'll get in touch with TJGAR.

Called the dealer, they wanted $104 for them, plus $4 for mounting clips or something.

These shouldn't be that hard to replace right? They look like they were just glued on.

the mounting clips need to be glued on - as for the molding itself it kinda just sits in the real snug. Its kinda sad if it was stolen. But as easy as they come off i can see why someone feels its easier to steal to work hard and buy em.

I actually put them for sale in the bst section a few weeks ago and had several pms but no one followed through.Like i said if interested just let me know. Good Luck.

    Just bought it!
Do those strips serve a purpose other than just filling the gaps when you don't have a roof rack? I've always curious why they were even there on my access cab.

I had the passenger side blow off my truck when i was test driving it, it had 4 miles on it. The dealership put a new one back on when i bought the truck and that one started peeling off so i had to take it back in. The must of used something better the second time because ive not had any problems since, June 07.

Throw a roof rack on there! Don't even have to mod em for the double cabs.

Yup, I watched mine fly off while driving on the highway (I was going pretty fast though). I thought about stopping to pick it up, but I was under warranty so I just got it replaced. The dealership said it's somewhat common on new trucks as the factory doesn't always put them on correctly.

So this should be covered under warranty then. I'll call again tomorrow and see what they say about replacing it under warranty. I still need to have the rear leaf spring, and HVAC blower motor replaced also--maybe I can just roll it all up into one trip.
