    I believe the purpose of these forums is to share information like 28003 is suggesting, not to be a target marketing device. If the answer is "call us and we'll sell you one" then you shouldnt even bother responding. With that, I have the same question as 28003. I would like to know based on fellow Taco owners experience what they believe to be the best kits out there.

    Icon Coil-overs, TC UCA, with Bilstein 5150 and Icon 3 leaf pack. 17" Moto Metal 951 4.5" Backspacing wrapped in 285/70/17 BFG AT's. Demello front bumper and Avid offroad sliders.
    Look up Camburg, Total Chaos, Old Man Emu, King, Fox,.. That should get you started. All very reputable companies who provide lift products for Tacomas. Their is lots more but those are the few that I like.

    Welll, I'll give you some of my experience. Most of my off roading is desert, fast, and sometimes, I can be hard on my truck in the whoops, and washes. My Other Tacoma was used in some pretty good off road trails rongeing up to a 3+ on a 4 scale...That all being said, I have ridden in vehicles with Icon, Fox, King, Camburg, and Sway-A-Way coilovers. Sway-a-Ways are an OK coilover, with Camburg being very much the same in ride, and off roading. Icons are over rated (IMHO). They ride good, but can be prone to bottoming out in the higher speed portions of off roading. King I have found about the same as the Icons, but they dont bottom as much. The Fox, now we are talking. Perform Very good off road. All the Co's I have ridden on, have had the 650# springs, but the Fox and the King had the best on road ride. None of them got hot when being pushed. The Bilstien 5100's preform very well off road, and on. They can be used with the stock spring, or in a CO kit. The CO kit for them has a 600# spring, and rides very nice on the road. Off road, I havent experienced any bottoming, but they heat up very fast. Even on a fast fire road. in 80* + temps, I have seen them get to 150* pretty often. Not a biggie, but none the less, they heat up faster than any others I have tested. FWIW, the OEM shocks, in the trails I have been on, can overheat, and fade out quick. I can over heat them (90* abient temps) in a few hours. The OME's hold more oil than the Bilstiens, and Im pretty sure, more than other 2.0 CO's. The ones I have tested (and am running curently) are the 885's. 590# spring rate. They have a great on road ride (to be expected, as the spring rate is only increased by 50# over stock), and take the big hits just as good as the best coilovers. I have only bottomed them once (Im pretty sure), and that was from jumping the truck. They only seem to get up to 110* when pounding on them off road, and I cant seem to get them hotter. Years ago, I wanted to hate OME. I belived that the CO's made in USA were the better buy. But, after trying them for the first time (8 years ago), I was hooked. I like the no maintinance, no need to adjust (the new ones are scragged, so sagging isnt an issue), and no need to re presurize with nitrogen. Hope this helps. :)

    That would be good for the rocky stuff, but not that great in the faster trails.

    Currently I am running these (Skyjacker Platinum Coilovers). They are adjustable up to 3" of lift. They actually ride really nice on and off road. I love them! Only problem is when I get a full load in my truck they tend to sag a little more then I would like.

    I have also ran the bilstein 5100's and stock coils, and they were great on road but didnt like them offroad. If I could do it all over again I would go with the Fox coilovers. You can check them out at downsouthmotorsports.com.

    This is what I was thinking. This would give the most reliability as well a locker options. Or if you like replacing parts, a custom long travel IFS if you like playing the dunes more then the trails.

    from piecing together from all around forums and stuff the consensus seems to be Icon CO with TC UCA's up front, OME N182 and Dakar leaf set in the back.

    I'm looking to get this setup when it comes time to change the stocks out.

    I cant say I am a fan of the Icons. If you are going to spend that much money then might as well go King or Fox.
