If what you are trying to ask is if you can change 2012 face to a 2005+, you should be able to. Fender are the same if I am not wrong. You might have different anchor points for the grill though.

    Steering wheel should be interchangeable.

In any case, the fabrication that it could possibly need would be minimal.

2005 - 2011 are the same. The only thing that changed was the cosmetics of the grille (they're still interchangable but the 2005 - 2009 are one style, 2010 has the grey center and 2011 has the plastic mesh center). The headlights from newer TRD models are 'smoked' and the newer models have the LED tail lights. Again, all the parts are interchangable, just cosmetic differences. The only thing I don't know about the steering wheel is the steering wheel stereo controls from year to year.

is the 2012 Taco differnt that the 2005-11?

excellent so the overall diemensions of the grill are exactly the same the only differnce is the middle.

I'm kindof leaning toward a chrome grill. are these Taco chrome grills prone to chrome flaking off? also what are the grills constructed of fiberglass, or the same stuff the OEM front bumper is made of?

I don't really care about the radios contols on steering wheel probably just get a aftermarket sys. mainly researching steering wheel assembly for a easy way to replace a blown airbag.

lastly (for now) the small body panel directly under the headlights what is this panel referred to as?

    Thanks

The front end of the 2012's are different from the rest. The headlights, grille, front bumper, hood and front fenders are different from the 2005 - 2011.

The grilles are plastic. I did not have any issues with my chrome flaking off but I swapped mine out for a color match when it was around 2 - 3 yrs old. The chrome grilles or black grilles will be cheaper and easier to find (typically).

Lastly, I wish I could help you, I know the part you're talking about but I don't know what it's called called. I'd just refer to it as a trim piece below the headlight if you can talk to someone in your shopping.
