I have the hood struts but didn't get the tailgate struts because of the binding issue I read on TW. I use the tailgate 10,000X more then the hood so I wonder if anyone has found a solution ?

Got it ready for towing my 7'x16' flatbed. Tested my B&W dual ball hitch and installed a Prodigy P2 brake controller.

My cable is pretty chewed up now and I was thinking of removing it but the cable does hold the weight when something is sitting on the gate. I was thinking of a smaller cable that connected along the strut as a limiter strap almost. something else to work on....

My truck is at the shop getting new gears right now and I can't take any new pics for a while. The lights came with some brackets and I just used those, nothing fancy really.

I did cut the slats out in the lower section to make room for the lights though.

It was pretty easy, I didn't even have to remove the bumper to do it.

I saw those lights in a catalog the other day and thought about doing the same thing. How's the light output?

They are pretty bright, and a bit more focused than my regular headlights.

Like, my headlights just light up everything in a very broad area, and these put more of a bright "hotspot" in the middle of the road. They do have a little bit of spill also, that adds to the overall output.

What I like is I can run them with the high beams, or the low beams, they are nice when used with the high's because you "get back" the light shining on the road directly in front of you.

When used with the lows, it basically doubles the amount of light you have.

They are not blinding bright or anything, but I am really happy with them!

I think they just use a standard bulb, (H7?) so it is basically like having 4 headlights, but these are a little more focused. I will try and do some "beamshots" when I get my truck back, but it's gonna be a while.

Got some DTLT's, the ceramic was bad around the flanges as you can see.
After a lot of sanding, Naval Jelly (works wonders on rust), Dremeling, etc....I got some high temp ceramic paint and sprayed it down (torched it between coats a bit)
It's in the oven for the second time now!
