Saying that she received all the attention because she was hot is a discredit to what she did for the sport.

4 time Winter X Games gold medalist
    5 World Cups
2005 FIS Freestyle World Ski Champion
First women to land a 1080 rotation jump in competition
2001 ESPY award winner for female skier of the year
2007 ESPY award winner Best Female Action Sports Athlete

And the biggest reason was she was a pioneer in superpipe skiing for women as she lobbied to have women included in the X games as well as the Olympics. She succeeded in doing so for the 2014 Olympic games in Sochi Russia where she was a potential favorite to win the gold. It is because of Sarah’s efforts that female winter athletes are some of the only athletes in the world to receive equal prize purses to that of men.

just because you and your coworkers "don't get it" doesn't mean that has anything to do with the general public's view of this event

i am neither a skier or snowboarder and am not located in an area saturated with either though i would say most of the people i know can appreciate what she did for the sport and understand the significance of the loss

i would say you and your coworkers are in the minority who thinks this has anything to do with her looks... disgusting if you ask me.

10 posts in and already making quite a name for yourself

So someone gave me a negative rep for posting all of Sarah's accomplishments (on a memorial thread) and then went on to say "boooo loser".

They failed to leave their name of course, however when you get the negative rep the time is left on there and it is very close to a certain post on here so I can pretty much narrow it down.

Once again another classy move pal.

She received a lot of coverage here in Calgary because her husband is from Balzac which is a stones throw away from Calgary.

I am not sure why you would raise a question in a memorial thread. You asked when did athlets become hero's in our culture yet you would of liked to see a female mountain climber to get coverage as well. Seems like a contradiction to me. You probably could have done yourself (and her) some justice by just starting a thread for her.

You are entitled to your own opinion, however if you do not mind I would rather this thread continue to be about an athlete that we in this thread respect and admire. So I am asking you nicely if you could perhaps raise these questions in another thread.

Actually a Diverse work place With both genders and multiple back rounds ethnicities and experiences would be indicative of the general public.
But I have no idea who this chick is. I see enough people die on a daily basis as it is in far more needless fashions.

She died doing something she loved. Bravo I say. If we all could be as lucky.
