Changing Rear driver tire

hello, i know this seems simple and possibly funny, i have lowered my spare tire and jacked up my truck to remove the rear tire which is flat, i removed all the nuts and now i cannot pull my tire off, im not sure if it is just corroded as shit or if there is something i am missing, is there some kind of mechanism to release the tire.... can anyone help me.. sorry my computer does not make question marks thanks for any help in advance.

 

If you have all 6 lugs off, give the edge of the tire a kick and it should pop off.

 

If all the lugs are off then put one back on like 3 turns. then kick the snot out of it around the rim. it's corroded. happens all the time. stay away from under the truck while doing this.

 

Once all the lug nuts are removed, it will come right off. Lift it off the wheel studs and pull it towards you. Might need a kick or two of it is corroded badly.

Put the spare under the axle in case you knock it off the jack and keep any body parts you'd like to keep out from under the truck.

 

i tried that, iv hammered it with rubber mallet iv thrown my back out rocking it ha seriously not sure what the problem is here

This isn't the best idea but you can air it back up, put all the lugs on loosely and drive around in figure 8s until it pops off if you can't get it off by beating on it. You could also put a jack in between the frame and wheel and force it off that way.

 

nothing will keep it on except corrosion if all 6 lug nuts are off.

There is a way to do this but your not going to like it.
Take all lug nuts and put back on. leave 3 turns loose.
Get in and do a couple of sharp circles left and right. or stop and go forward and back. going to ruin the tire but if it's a emergency it works.

take the jack that came with your truck, hold the base of it against the nuts of the U bolts and start jacking so the head of the jack hits the edge of the rim nearest the ground, should pop right off

 

When you get this problem fixed, some weekend when your not busy take off your other 3 wheels, they might be stuck too. One of the first things I did when I bought my truck was took the wheels off and put a thin layer of grease on the mounting surface, this works great especially if you drive in water often.

 

wire brush the hub and apply a thin coat of anti sieze.

 

It's been 3 hours. might have to use dynamite at this rate.

 

I've worked on a wheel once for over two hours and then had to take it to a tire shop and they struggled for a long time before it finally popped off. The old man at the counter couldn't believe how hard it was to remove. I learned to rotate the tires or at least to take them off and put them back on every once in a while to prevent this situation so if something happens on the road removing the tire is the least of my worries.

 

Absolutely.
Always had a 5 pound dead blow hammer in my tow truck for stuff like this.
i still carry it today in my personal truck.
I never seized my rims and skid plates before it even left the shop the day i took it home.
Haven't seen one yet that i could get off but they weren't fun......

I have used a log and hit the rim from the frame side using the end of the log.
Works like a charm..and grease it up as mentioned

 

Put the lugs on and do some cicrles or quick.starts and stops...works like a charm. Then, put some anti-seize on the face of the mounting to prevent it from happening again.
