You're opinion's been noted, thanks for the input ;)

I'm not dead set on getting one, just one of a few I've been eyeing lately. We'll see what next weekend brings to the table. A friend of mine recently picked up a Mercedes ML350 BluTech that's pretty nice. Maybe I'll ask him if I can take it for a spin sometime this week.

Honestly, I'm not quite sure why. I think it has a lot to do with the driving position. Until I got my tacoma, I didn't realize just how much I prefer a higher driving height compared to a car. I enjoy being able to see around larger vehicles and farther down the road.

As a side note, I'm not dead set on any particular platform (e.g., luxury ute, truck, car, etc.). There's just certain vehicles I'm drawn to and the Evoque happens to be one of them. I'm also particularly fond of the new M3's and S5's :D

A lot of people seem to really like them, but they don't really do it for me... a little to big for my tastes. Now if they would just put that motor in the M3... there'd already be one sitting in the garage :D

M3's are plenty fast with their V8.

When I went SUV shopping with my brother, we looked at every luxury SUV everything from a trail team edition 4runner, LR4's, XC90, XC60, Jeep Grand Cheeroke, Q7, Q5, BMW, Benz...you get the picture.

After 5 months of shopping, he finally decided on a VW Tourag Diesel V6. 400+ lbs ft of torque and 30+ mpgs all day long. CLose to 800 miles per tank

I serously recommend the Tourag diesel. Its the best bang for your buck Diesel luxury SUV.

I looked at them last November when I was waiting on a service tech to look at my Tacoma.

I really liked the previous gen body style, but the new ones are a little boxy IMO... a little too much for my likings. They do pack some pretty nice features though!

Test drove the Evoque and found it to small for what we were going to use it for. Found a 2011 Sport Supercharged with 6400 mi on it (Program car) for $68k... $15k off MSRP! Needless to say it didn't take much to pull the trigger.

The Rover is a true luxury SUV, love the sound system and it totally rocks in snow and mud (although I tend to avoid mud anymore).

Jaguar and Land Rover are now owned by the Indian car company Tata. Their reliability has improved over the years for sure.

I need to update my "Whats in your driveway" thread... Pics tomorrow.

If you are looking for a small crossover SUV the Evoque will do what you want with the added bonus of the luxury RR offers. If you need bigger and more power go with a Sport. Good luck!!!

Agreed. It's all good though. Everyone's entitled to their opinion. It wouldn't be fair of me to censor out ones that I didn't want to hear. :proposetoast:

There is a reason the Touareg is called the "Tow Rig". Unless reliability has changed

    Thanks for the advice!

So what's your experience been like with your Sports reliability and dealer encounters (e.g., services, warranty work, etc.).

I don't have kids or a family, so for the time being, rear seat "utility" space isn't really that high on my priority list. I bought a 2011 CR-Z (2 seater hybrid car) about 2 years ago, and didn't think twice about not having back seats. Unfortunately, I ended up hating the car and traded it in about 4 weeks later. My AC Tacoma has still been plenty sufficient for rear seating space, lol. When I sat in the Evoque today, I felt like I was in a bus! I guess it's all relative to what you're used to!

Look online for a VW dealership that has a V6 diesel in stock. They're having a lot of trouble keeping them on the show room floor. haha. Take it for an extended test drive. You won't be disappointed.

The newer models have a completely reworked suspension, drivetrain, and engine. Electronics are solid. There shouldn't be any issues now. The new Touareg got rid of the old selectable ride high suspension which had a lot of issues and even has a new 8-speed tranny.

When we were doing research into the reliability of VW, 80% of owners did not have any major engine or drivetrain issue which is what you will see of reliable brands like Toyota. The 20% that have issues did paid up the ass for repairs, which is true of any luxury vehicle.

LOL... I guess the Evoque would feel like a bus after the cr-z.

This is actually the second Sport we've had... traded the first one in on the GTR. That was a 2006 Supercharged, zero reliability problems and excellent service from the dealer even though it was purchased through carmax.

Check out carmax.com. They have a "no haggle" policy but their prices are pretty good. We've bought 3 cars through them and had zero problems and got great deals.
