6" Fabtech with Bilstein 5100's??

OK I don't know a whole lot about mechanic work on trucks so bare with me here. I have a Fabtech 6" suspension lift kit and want to add 1.75" to 2" of suspension lift to my 6" already, I have been reading and what I think I understand is that If I add the Bilstein 5100 to front and rear of my truck I can adjust them to 1.75 or 2 to get my extra suspension lift, is this correct and it not then what do I need to buy to get an extra 2" of suspension lift without any major modding to my truck?

 

Assuming you have the basic kit with the spacer, I believe that you can swap out the shocks and run the 5100's. But with a 6" spacer stacked on top that is probably not the greatest of ideas. And only the front 5100s are adjustable, the rears are not.

 

you would need 5125s in the back or some other shock

yeah it will work, a bunch of people have done it. Look at tacoridinghigh he has them on 2.5

 

Ok so I can run the 5100's on the front and 5125's on the back for added lift? So are the 5125's also adjustable or do I need something else on the backend to get the lift I want?

 

the rear shocks dont add the lift. you will need a bigger block or new leaf pack or you could maybe just add an aal to the block.

I want to get this setup on top of my basic 6" fabtech and set the 5100's to 2" but i was told it would kill the cv boots due to the aggressive angle... is that true?

No it's not true. The Fabtech 6 inch drops everything six inches. At that point the cv's are at stock angles. You can then tweak the arms for a bit more lift which is what Toytec and other non drop bracket lifts do. I just did the Procomp 6 and reset my 5100's to zero lift but reused my Eibachs. I have a little more than 6 inches of front lift.

 

But u set yours to 0, I was thinking setting it to 1.5" or 2" on top of the 6" Basic Fabtech Lift...

That's right. 1.6 from springs or setting the shocks at 1.5 inches of lift is the same as far as ride height goes. I didn't get the full amount of lift from the springs due to the weight on my bumper but I guess I got close to an inch. If I wanted 8 inches of lift I would have no problem running the 6 inch plus Eibachs and 5100's set at .85. It's been done before.

 

I have 5100's on my pro comp, but they are set on 0.

thinking of going with bilstein 5100 and setting at 1.25" for the front and changing my 3" block to a 5" block for the back... any cons with that setup?
keep in mind that already have a basic 6" fabtech lift already.

btw: truck going to be about .75" shorter in the front so my wife can see over the hood scoop =D

anybody running adjust 5100 set to 1.25" on top of basic 6" fabtech lift? PLs lmk if there is any CONS with this setup... I want to buy it already!!!
