Avid front light bar, Avid bolt on sliders, Avid rear bumper protector, T-Rex grill & bumper insert. Still lots to do though.
Galvanized is the norm, but I just wanted the drops in copper & decided to just do the whole thing in cpopper. Sad thing is that all the copper on the ceiling is going to get burried uder the surface mount drop ceiling that I am going to do.

hmm, ..i'm a bit puzzled why you want a drop ceiling... looks like you've already got a bunch of overhead lighting and overhead storage, ...you'll lose that w/ the drop ceiling, including losing interior space, let alone all the work to do it

Ewwww ...please don't do a drop ceiling. You'll regret it later.

I am doing a SURFACE mount drop ceiling. I'll only loose 1.5 inches. The thing is, the master bedroom is right above the garge. I need to deaden the noise from the garage so I don't disturb the wifes sleep while I'm in the garage & I am going to put a bit of insulation between the ceiling & drop ceiling to absorb some of the heat when a car is parked in the garage. Right now, you can tell a difference in the bedroom when a hot car pulls in to the garage. Since I am in Canyon Country, it gets warm enough during the summer time.

Insulation will help a ton. My garage is a lot cooler in the summer time since I've insulated the ceiling and the garage door. Is there insulation in the joist bays currently?

No insulation in the joist bays at all.

If I were you. I would pull the drywall down off the ceiling and insulate those joist bays. You'll get a much better R-value and noise reduction than 1.5" of rigid foam ever will.

That's only about $100 worth of drywall and $30 worth of mud and tape. Go rent a drywall lift for a day ($50) and have a buddy help you. You should be able to knock out the garage in a few hours. Not to mention you won't have to do a drop ceiling. Also, you will be able to run any piping and electrical under the drywall.

Hey Macgyver, I would & have thought about it, but I do small part powder coating on the side & can't really hold out any longer on that to do the insulation & drywall let alone having all the drywall dust floating around while I powder coat. That just doesn't work out very well.

Pnicholas1019, The boxes came from Sams Club just over $400 each.

Here's my on-going shop build! I put up the building early in 2011 and have been slowly adding power, lights, paneling, etc. Also going to be putting in some overhead storage in the corners. It's a 24x40x12 with 16x10 front door and 10x10 door in the back.

Excuse the mess, but the shop itself is a work in progress, and it contains several works in progress!

Just put up the paneling in the back right-hand corner that will be my work benches and tools. Got the sockets in but not connected to the breaker yet, ran out of romex
    [IMG]
Looking towards the loosely organized front. Chemical cabinet, lawn equipment, and some heavier machinery
    [IMG]
Towards the back down the other wall, storage, and oven for powdercoating

Hey ManMan, I am seriously jelly here. Wish I had that much space. It is rough trying to do all I need to in my small garage. I will post pics of some of the other stuff I am doing in my garage a little later today. If I had the space you have, I would have my own powder coating business going on.

Having enough space to build a shop was a priority when we bought a house. We really lucked out on several things that made getting this house and shop possible!

At one point I lived in a apartment and my "shop" was a tiny coat closet that I had built a work bench into!

As soon a get more power run and some practice, I am going to start doing powder coating on the side. I'll probably have to break down and buy/build a blasting cabinet as well instead of my blast from a bucket setup!

Right now I powder coat small parts as I do not have a big enough oven. Mostly doing motorcycle parts & what not. I am doing what I can with what I have for now. I just shot some Kawasaki Green on some KLX 450 parts last night. I'll get some pics up soon.

Side note, I see you like riding bikes. 2 SV650's huh. I have a Ninja 250 & a FJR 1300, both for me.

A little late with the pics but here they are. It is my make shift spray booth for the powder coating. It is a make shift refridgerator. I pulled all the machanics out of it. There is nothing but the shell left. I cut a couple holes in the back of the fridge portion & installed a couple fans to pull the dust that are covered in filters. It is framed in behind the fridge with wood & aluminum panel with an exhaust port that is also covered in a filter.
Inside of doors shelves removed & sheeted. Couple hooks on the door to hold tools & a light mounted to door for lighting.
Closer look inside, the hanging rods the original holes covered & my exhaust vents
    [IMG]
The freezer portion is pretty much a clean area to let the parts cool down. I cut in an exhaust for it if it is too hot in there.
Here is a view of the filtered intake that I cut in to the freezer portion to flow air over the cooling parts.
Last night I shot some Kawasaki Green on some KLX 450 parts for a neighbor. It doesn't look like a match in this pic, but on the bike, it's a perfect match.
I am working small parts only due to my oven is a small kitchen convection oven. Still trying to find some space for something a bit bigger.

I've had quite a few people hit me up about the fridge idea. It's great for storing most of my suplies as well due to it's pretty well insulated as well. It's amazing what you can come up with for ideas when you are on a budget.

I was going to build mine out of PVC pipe and heavy canvas drop cloths. But I think the fridge will be cheaper AND more durable!
