what is the Center consel made of?

i know its probably a stupid question..what is the center consol made of? is it plastic or vinyl? iam talking about the shifter area cup holder and storage compartment... the reason being is i want to paint it black and i want to get the right paint for the job... has anyone done it ive searched and havent found anything...

Plastic isn't much of a descriptor.

I don't know what it is. Probably some resin thing, vs abs or whatnot. But if you wanted to adhere something to it or repair it, a better explanation of what it is would be needed.. for best results. I'd bet its not the "plastic" that people generally equate to plastic.

 

Did you ever go ahead and paint the center console? Can you share your procedure and what kind of paint you used? How'd it turn out for you?

Now for a real answer:

Pop off the piece and look at the under side. I seem to recall an "ABS" stamp molded into it somewhere when I was cutting the hole for my in-cab 110V outlet.

 

LOL, considering this thread is almost a year old, I'm sure he figured it out by now. But for trying to give the right answer!

I know it's an old thread, but I figured if a miracle happened and a n00b actually used the search feature they would find this thread and have an answer in it that is more helpful than guano.
