Make the doors not relock themsleves if not opened

This is my first post. I found a few helpful posts and I wanted to join. I now have a problem I can't seem to find an aswer for. When I use my remote to unlock the doors they don't stay unlocked long enough. Is there a way to extend the timer or turn the auto relock off alltogether?

 

I don't know if there is anything on this but I have found it annoying sometimes. Welcome to the club.

 

My door switch doesn't always detect an open door so (my Truck) is always locking my keys in itself

Yeah, this can be a bit annoying if you are not as fast as you'd like..... The other day, I unlocked the taco and was escorting my very ole mother to the truck....just as I grabbed the rear door handle .... your guessed it.... it locked up.... Damn pain in the arse as far as I' m concerned...

i like it as a semi-safety feature. i mean if you walk away your truck will lock itself. they should've taken the feature of the newer altima, mine wouldn't let you lock the keys into the car. but then again it was a pushtostart

 

lots of people have the habit of unlocking the car while walking up to it... so yeah it's more then possible for it lock before you get there.

 

I looked into this after I bought my dynolock tailgate lock. I would unlock the tailgate, and be unloading stuff in the bed when the doors would lock themselves, fairly annoying. The consensus was that there's no way to override it.

 

There's a lot of features on these trucks that should be programmable but are not. If it really bothers you, look into an aftermarket alarm or keyless entry system that can be set up exactly the way you want it.

This "feature" sucks. Not all of us live in the ghetto where a vehicle left unattended for 20 seconds is stripped or stolen.

 

I found out my truck did this AFTER I walked down 3 flights of stairs. And of course I didn't take my keys with me. Won't do that again...

 

It does, But I've now learned to wait until I'm right at the door for the most part. It's a learning curve. But there are still them moments where I forget and know I had unlocked already. For instance, walk out of the house, unlock, then remember I left something on the counter then get back to the truck and .

 

Interesting comments. Assuming mine is working properly, it appears this "feature" has changed on the 2012 models. My 2012 double cab does not ever automatically relock the doors. They will remain unlocked indefinitely (days) until I alone choose to lock the doors with the remote.

 

Maybe the OP could swap a 2012 keyless entry module into his truck? Wonder if it would fit...........probably don't want to know what Toyota gets for one of those.

 

Just the same with mine...I have a 2011 and have never had the truck lock up on me....kind of wish that it would though ...sometimes maybe

Really? I have a 2011 white gauges and if I unlock my taco it will auto lock within 20 seconds if a door is not opened.

 

Now that's even more interesting. Two above, with 2011 models, say theirs do automatically lock, while your 2011 does not. Perhaps this "feature" changed at some point within the 2011 model year or varies based on where the truck was built.

 

Yup, my remote range is within about 8 feet of my truck... I might get a few more feet if I use the 'chin' method, but lately, I've been interested in finding out if I actually have a security system or not... it's a factory remote, but it just unlocks and lights flash... doesn't 'beep' like my neighbors truck... I'd really like to Cue Up my train horns to the panic button... no one will mess with the Taco if those are goin off... lmfao
