Anchorage police say this late 1990s-model green Toyota Tacoma pickup truck drove off the International Airport Road overpass at Minnesota Drive Friday afternoon, landing in Minnesota's northbound lanes. The driver, a man in his late 80s, was extricated from the vehicle with non-life-threatening injuries; he was speaking with police and paramedics at the scene before being taken to the hospital. ANCHORAGE, Alaska—
Anchorage police and rescue personnel responded Friday afternoon after a pickup truck drove off the International Airport Road overpass of Minnesota Drive, landing in Minnesota’s northbound lanes.

APD spokesperson Marlene Lammers says dispatchers received a call about the crash at 1:51 p.m. Officers responded to the scene at 1:53 p.m., where they found an inverted late 1990s-model green Toyota Tacoma pickup truck lying on Minnesota. Investigators believe the truck had been headed west on the overpass when, for unknown reasons, it veered through a snowbank and crossed a median before leaving the overpass.

The driver, a man in his late 80s, had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to the hospital with apparently non-life-threatening injuries. Lammers says he was conscious and talking with police and paramedics at the scene.

There were lane closures as the vehicle was being cleared, but Minnesota wasn't closed by the crash.

This is a developing story. Please check KTUU.com and the Channel 2 newscasts for updates.

I think his age may have played a part in it. Awesome that he's not seriously injured though.

After surviving a swim in the ocean and falling with an imploded building... a small overpass jump is nothing
