Hey, for anyone interested...just wanted to make folks aware of a Toyota dealer in Greenfield MA (find him on Toyota dealer locator) selling 6yr/100k, zero deductible, Toyota agreements for $855. That's the best deal I have seen so far! My dealer tried to get me for $1600, and then when I called him with this price he said he would match it. Yeah right...like I am going to do business with him now!

I've bought a warranty from Troy before and will buy one for the Tacoma too.
You also don't pay any sales tax if you don't live in MA.:)

I got the extended factory warranty from my dealer. It gave me bumper to bumper coverage for 7yr / 75K miles for $970 - no deductible and the work can be performed at any dealership.

Not sure if this is a good deal or not but I like the peace of mind it provides. It's actually only 4 extra years because it includes the standard 3 yr coverage.

Mileage is not an issue as it would take me 10 years (at least) to put on 75k. The hardest part was resigning to the fact that I will keep this truck for the next 7 years. I may want the newest 3rd gen truck when it comes out!

    Paid a bit too much.
He gets $945 for the 7/100 no deductible..
Troy has the 7/75 for $700 and no sales tax.
I'm going to go with the same 7/75.

Extended warranties can be purchased at anytime during your first 3yr/36K warranty. The price rises substantially.

I bought mine for $1K after tax. If I waited till the end of my original warranty, it would be $3K.

These are Toyota products, so TFS could answer specific questions (although they are sold thru Dealers). If you are still under your original factory warranty, you can purchase one as far as I know.

The guy I am dealing with is Troy @ 413-772-0989 (Greenfield Toyota). He could answer questions better.

Buying a aftermarket warranty is nuts.
Warranty Gold was a big,big warranty company that went belly up screwing people.
Can't get hurt with a Toyota warrany at half the cost of retail which is about 2-3% of the vehicles cost.:)

Based on someone's warranty purchase experience, when (in time: miles, months) did you purchase this extended warranty? and How much was this one?

    Thanks again

I am not aware of a higher cost for more miles...you just gotta be within warranty...at least this is the case with the Toyota warranties. I agree that aftermarkets can be risky.

My last vehicle had a factory extended warranty that cost me about $1100, but ended up covering about $4000 in warranty work (leaking head, among other things). So that baby paid off!

Exactly, as long as your within the 3/36 before you call Troy. I wish I had done it before 1/109, his price went up $65 on the one I wanted to buy.

Now, if you buy an extended warranty when you buy the truck, you get 30 days to cancel w/o penalty except an admin fee. After the 30 days, you can cancel, but they pro-rate your refund. You can also do this if you sell/trade the truck & do not give the new owner the warranty.

Since I paid $970 before tax (purchased last friday - 2/27/09), I wonder what the cost is to cancel and re-purchase from Troy for $700 and no tax :D

My wife hates that I go through trouble to save a buck :smack:

Personally I don't buy extended warranties for anything, most consumer advisor's will tell you they're a waste of your money...even more so if the company goes belly up! But if done right and you do your research you can be confident that you'll walk away with the "best" coverage at a reasonable rate. The info offered is FYI, being well armed before purchase won't lead to any nasty surprises down the road!

I used advice from this and other sites to buy my Taco in Sept /08. Instead of being a chore it was fun watching them (dealerships) work for my business. I even saved $3500 below their so called "best offer". My brother came with me and was amazed when they agreed in the end...he was certain that they'd tell me to take a hike, instead they were happy to make me a deal.

Living in Canada I don't have access to many of the services/deals that you have in the US. If I did I'd certainly investigate the offers...what could it hurt, it's mostly just a simple e-mail or online form to get a quote and more info!

With most stuff they are right, and I don't bother with warranties either.

But when it comes to a vehicle that's already costing me tens of thousands over several years (initial price, interest, insurance, maintenance, fuel, add-ons)...yes I will buy it, if it's affordable & porportionate compared to the risk. In a perfect world I would say, "Don't offer me a warranty, offer me a vehicle that doesn't need it". But as we all know...

Troy is the man! I was curious about the issue with mileage, so called him to confirm. 6/100k Platinum for a 07 Tacoma Doublecab TRD Sport 4x2 Longbed WITH 34k miles = $795. Covers everything bumper to bumper (electrical, a/c...)

Lovin' it. Glad I found the info here, thanks everyone.

Got my 7/100/0 platinum plan from Troy yesterday for $945.
Signed up on the phone with him for the Toyota Rewards Visa Card 0% for six months saved another 5% off the $945.
Just like those before me, this guy rocks & highly recommend him.
