for those who have sound deadened

would 100 square feet be enought to do the 4 doors and back wall of 2 double cab 2nd gens?

If you are doing 100% coverage, are you doing inner and outer skin, or just the outer skin of the doors?

Figure about 30-35 ft for the doors (about 7-8 ft per door skin - gives you a little overlap), and then the back wall is about 12-15ft. I would say it shouldwork for a single layer on the outer door skins.

But I would personally spend money on a better product, use it correctly (not 100% coverage, and seal up the holes in the doors on the inner door skin), and get better results...

The door is hallow

 

Outer door skin - The piece you see from outside the truck - the door.
Inner door skin - The piece that the interior door panel connects to. In between is the structure of the door, the window/motor, latch for the door, etc.

Just as I suspected.

What does your system consist of? Do you have a sub or just front and or rear speakers?

If you want QUIET (with respect to road noise) you need a noise barrier NOT sound deadener. Sound deadener is to kill vibrations made by the speakers/subs. Mass loaded vinyl is a noise barrier that blocks sound.

You should use some deadener in the doors that you have speakers mounted in but there's no need to go nuts. Then use some MLV sitting on top of foam in your floor boards.

 

i have a 10" sub, after market speakers, amp and head unit. i dont plan on going as far as doing roof and floor board. just wanted to do the back wall and doors. and most likely the hood liner.

That is exactly what he is referring to, preferably used in conjunction with a closed cell foam (CCF) to decouple the MLV from the resonant surface to which it is mounted.

You can find individual cheaper competitive products, but SDS is a good one stop shop for everything you'll need.

 

Agree wholeheartedly with this advice. I used it for mine and really appreciate the results. I wanted a quieter environment to exist in when driving the truck and Don at SDS definitely got me squared away with what I needed and he did it for less than the alternatives would have cost me.
