2012 Shut off on freeway

It was the coolant... And they aren't going to fix it for me because apparently a rock came up and broke a hole into my radiator... So they are going to replace the radiator, replenish fluids, and change the oil in the truck for a "modest" $840... I'm so pissed. My insurance company is going out there tomorrow to checkout the truck... Dealer said they will check the engine after they get it running to make sure no damage was cause by the overheating.

 

Deal. If it's tranny I owe you teh repz!

and in OPs defense, I'm also color blind and the red/pink fluids can look similar.

Back on track, I would be fuming mad if this happened to my new baby! I hope your insurance will take care of things (without a huge deductible)

 

Yeah my deductible is $500.. But I'll pay $500 all day considering that the engine may need to be replaced..

 

dam so that isnt covered under warranty if a rock breaks it from being on a paved road?

Does your warranty cover collisions with other cars breaking your truck if you're on a paved road?

 

Did they show you the area where it broke? I'd imagine most of the radiator is protected from the factory skidplate and the only exposed areas are through the grill for the most part.

Kinda a freak accident really.

Hmmm...... I'm almost ready to call BS on the dealer's part. You should check it out yourself and have the mechanic point out exactly what and where it happened.

 

lol no, i was just curious. but it covers a rear diff thats blown apart while on a fire road. things like that is why i asked!

and people offroad their trucks pretty hard and this doesnt happen..... i would also have the dealer show me exactly where

 

I'll have them show me when I can get there. I had school in the morning and now a 10hour shift at work. And then school all day tomorrow until 7pm so basically too damn busy to check it myself...this sucks I don't really have extra money outside of my car payment to be throwing around.

 

My insurance will be giving me a call by 5pm today and I'll tell them to male sure to check that it was damaged and not defective

 

I'm calling BS on that one too... I would head down there and don't tell the dealer your coming and ask them to show you the hole... You tell them your coming they will get their mechanic brutus to break a hole into that bad boy.. .Good luck.. def think the dealer is trying to screw you.

Man that's crap that they are charging you for it. Although its not the trucks fault or dealerships fault its just a freak thing, but still it's a new freaking truck. I know if my new tundra had any mechanical issues within the first like 2 months of owning it I would make the dealership cover it

 

I'm gonna throw the bullshit flag on the dealer as well. Get pic's of this said hole caused by a rock. Must be a pretty good size rock or one that was moving at a pretty high rate of speed to puncture the radiator.
