The biggest issue I had with the religion you just put on display. when debating Mormonism with other Christians Mormons like to quote bible verses. Yet, when Christians quote bible verses that refute Mormonism it's brushed off as them not understanding the verse, or misinterpreting it.

    • Ether 9:19

19 And they also had horses, and asses, and there were elephants and cureloms and cumoms; all of which were useful unto man, and more especially the elephants and cureloms and cumoms.
    • Ether 9:18

18 And also all manner of cattle, of oxen, and cows, and of sheep, and of swine, and of goats, and also many other kinds of animals which were useful for the food of man.
There's one specific mention of an elephant, and several other animals in the Book of Mormon that never existed in that area.

    4. DNA and The Book of Mormon The Book of Mormon claims that the "Lamanites (lay-man-ites), the American Indians, are the descendants of Lehi (lee-high), a Jew. Yet, DNA studies of American Indian tribes reveal they had not one Semitic "gene" in their DNA, no Semitic ancestry whatsoever. The American Indians are Asians, like the Chinese. They have "mongolian folds" in their eyelids as other Asians. They have a "Mongonlian dot" on their tailbones like other Asians. Their hair, languages, skin, eyes, culture, religion, and DNA are all Asian, with NO SEMITIC GENES whatsoever!! They are closely related to the Tuvan people of Siberia.

How do you feel about the Mormon church donating millions to proposition 8 and various other political endeveours, while Jesus says in the bible to be no part of this world.

    neglect, mostly.
in John 17, jesus is praying to god, not making an order to the people. That verse is talking about his disciples that he is leaving to carry on his word, and how they are not "wordly" like him. He is praying for them. The bible does teach to be part of this world, aka, evangelize. just not to fall in the the secular trends of the world.

edit: and just to be clear im not a morman, and i really don't disagree with the principal of your statement, i was just clarifying that i do not interpret that scripture as Jesus saying for "the bible to be no part of this world".

What upsets me about this faith that is if you become inactive or leave the church allot of the members turn their backs on you b/c you left. Then if you come back they act like your best friend. (I was brought up in a LDS home and have gone through this) Even my Dad treated me different. When I lived in UT and finally quit going to church I had a good neighbor right across the hall who quit talking to me. I have tried reaching out to him a number of times with no luck. My dad finally got over it. I had quite a few clients as well who quit doing buisness w/me when I left as well. The LDS faith prides themselves on "Fellowship" and helping one another. (The above has happened in UT,TX,and Cali so its not an isolated thing.) They tend to think they are the only true church on this earth. I highly doubt God would put one true church on this earth. I believe that he wants many people to come to know him (by his/her own choice) and that's why their are so many different types of faith her on earth.

Let God's curse fall on anyone, including us or even an angel from heaven, who preaches a different kind of Good News than the one we preached to you.

Any member over the age of 12 and worthy to enter our temple can be a part of baptisms for the dead. This is NOT where the dead person MUST become a member, it simply gives them the choice in the afterlife.
