    IIRC, in the article the dynos were performed, they said that the dynos were flawed, as the trucks had varying amounts of heat soak, so the tests really arent as accurate as they should be.

    Seems sad to me that the V8 only put out a little over 30-40 hp than the other two models. On the Tacoma, at least (heat soak or not), you can easily get that back with a set of NST pulleys, CAI (we know the best choices ;)), Cat-back exhaust, and an NST spacer. And no tuning device.

    Hmmm....I guess it all depends which has the better price point, best appeal, and most aftermarket support.

    I vote Toyota. :D

    I'm a little skeptical that you could pick up 30 - 40 HP just from pulleys, a cat back, CAI and a spacer. The CAI don't seem to have any real results, even the good ones and cat back gains seem to be minimal at best so you're basically getting 30 HP out of pulleys and a spacer? :confused:

    Pullys and a TB spacer wont give much at all. TB spacers dont do anything as it is.

    That's kinda what I was wondering. Pushing out an extra 30 - 40 HP isn't a small or cheap endeavor. That's why I was confused by his comment, I think I missed something :eek:

    First, so we are all on the same page, the NST "spacer" is NOT a throttle body spacer. It is a manifold spacer. Throttle body spacers, on this motor have little to no effect, other than noise. The manifold spacer does work, and I have posted a dyno graph of it.

    Your idea that the CAI on this motor does nothing, is incorrect, as that has been discussed many a time. As well as dynos have been done to prove it. So the CAI is in the picture.

    You are confused due to misinformation. That is all.

    The mods he had before spacer dyno, and with spacer dyno, are this: TRD gen 1 CAI, NST pulley set, TRD catback. OEM log style headers, and OEM y-pipe.

    So with all that, about 30 whp increase and 50 wtq, over the dyno in the first post.

    My comment holds its legitimacy.

    Come on now, you know better than this! :D Comparisons based on numbers between dyno machines is not terribly valid,,, even comparisons between days on the same dyno has a fair amount of error.

    That being said, you have some evidence of an increase between the dyno in this thread's first post vs. the NST dyno, but how much actual difference is definitely up for interpretation.

    Have to take it within a margins of error yes. But if they weren't accurate to some degree, people wouldn't use them. Thus before and after on a same dyno same day same vehicle, for best results of noticeable gains. I agree, dyno to dyno has a variance.

    I might have his dyno papers at my house when we did testing at PowerFab as well. If memory serves me properly, the numbers were very similar. I will have to see if I have them. PowerFab uses the newest style Dyno Jet has to offer. A mix of eddie current and inertia. Very accurate. The one in the graph was an older model. Age unknown to me. Still a Dyno Jet though. Done at CarBoy.
