Apartment living is quite frustrating. It's a shame, because I'm less than a mile from FSU and really like my apartment, it's just apartment living itself thats frustrating.

Every week since I moved in there has been atleast one day where I’m woken by this motorcycle cop sitting in the front of our complex running radar and revving his bike over and over again. I live on a small, maybe half a mile road that runs inbetween two major roads, with a 35mph speed limit. This same cop likes to sit in the entrance to my complex, blocking the mailboxs, while running radar. Everytime he catches someone going 36mph he launches out of the complex as if he’s chasing the most dangerous felon ever, lights going and siren blaring. I’m also about 300ft from the redlight, so he usually launches going as fast as he can till they pull over 200ft later into a gas station parking lot at the end of my road.

It’s really starting to piss me off. I don’t care to be awoken because he feels the need to rev his engine loudly over and over again when theres nobody to pull over, and I don’t think he should be running radar from a residential complex. There’s several car lots further up the road and abandoned drive ways he could do it from, my particular driveway just has a massive oaktree making it hard to see him from one side. I understand wanting to catch speeders, but this is really obnoxious. There's atleast 5 other driveways he could do this at that aren't residential....

call in a noise complaint about his motorcycle. Most states have a restriction on how loud the exhaust can be.

Unless I'm mistaken, there are three police departments where I live. Leon County Sheriff, Tallahassee PD, and FSU PD. His bike says Tallahassee PD. I wonder if calling anonymously would do anything or if they'd just shrug it off. Last thing I want to do is call and complain while giving them my name, as I'm sure that would just make me a target.

He must have pulled over atleast 8 different vehicles in like a 90minute period today, so it would literally be him pulling someone over, writing them a ticket, returning to the complex just to launch after someone else 30 seconds later.

Most LEO's only run radar in a specific location, if they had gotten a certain amount of speeding complaints. I say leave it be, as he is just there trying to get people to slow down. Useually only lasts a week or so.

you can always say something to your landlord about it being a nuisance to you and making you consider possibly not renewing your lease because of it. your landlord will either make a call "on behalf of the residents" or say oh well have fun on your apt search. thats really about all you can do though if you dont want them to know it was in fact you.

+1 i would get the landlord to file a complaint with the police. unless you live in the ghetto, you should not be subjected to sirens every 15 min and overzealous cops who dont know how to properly ride a motorcycle.

You could call and file and an anonymous noise complaint.

Must be a Florida thing, Clay County Sheriff run radar in my parent's subdivision on Fleming Isle. Speed limit is 15mph. My mom got her first speeding ticket ever in life for doing 26mph in a 15mph last year.

Are you serious? I'm not buying and sleeping with ear plugs so I don't have to listen to someone revving their bike all morning. He's done it at 6 am. If I made half as much noise as he did I'm sure I'd have police on my doorstep for a noise complaint.

This has been going on for a month. Like I said, there are car lots and empty driveways on this road, he could easily park there and not disturb everyone in my complex.

Have you tried to ask the guy "Hey man, would you mind moving down a bit?" and explaining that the sound of his bike is disturbing your sleep. Be nice about it, and he should understand.

Yeah, I was serious. I wear them to drown out noise pretty regularly but can still hear things like an alarm clark/fire alarm/my dogs going apeshit in the adjoining room. Seems more helpful than those saying "leave it alone." :notsure:

And what Chris said...try speaking to Mr. PoPo directly and politely. Maybe he'll be cool about it.

First things first...you have NO idea how fast the people he is stopping are going...and unless there are specific laws against it...motorcycle exhaust is probably considered reasonable during daylight hours...now then

Call the dept he works for and ask to speak to a supervisor (either watch command or desk sgt...something to that effect)

Explain the situation that there are several spots along the road that seem feasible for the officer to use, and what he is doing and how it's disturbing your sleep

We now have people in office, and running for office that don't speek english.
Scum selling drugs & a police state thats crazy. It's not the good old USA anymore.
