.300 blackout is a .300 Cal bullet stuffed into .223 brass

Adam, you are close. The .300 Blackout is a .308 bullet in a necked up. 223 cartridge that can be loaded full power for supersonic shooting or subsonic shooting. The supersonic is like most guns, the subsonic is accurate/lethal out to 200 yds and barely audible. Put a can on it and you can hear the firing pin hit the primer.

I'm looking at one because it is super cheap to reload (compared to my 300 WM) and my wife can spend all day at the range with it without a bruise on her shoulder. Plus I think it will be a fun gun for messing around with alongside my 22s.

Are .300 fireball(whisper) and .300 blackout essentially the same thing

Yes and no in the same way that .223 and 5.56 are the same. The 300 Whisper is a 221 Fireball case necked up for the 308 bullet and it will fire safely in 300 Blackout chambers. You should not fire Blackout rounds in Whisper chambers because the pressure will be dramaticaly higher.

Put on the 300 Blackout upper and go shooting. That is the great thing about the Matel gun.

I know a few cases require the buffer spring to be changed out, would the 300blk be one of those?

Pretty sure with the 450bushmaster the buffer must be changed unlike the 458socom

Why? Spending the money on either guns or the trail rig is the best thing you can do with it. Savings accounts are earning crap right now.

Good thing the DMV here isn't like in California.. I remember being there all day waiting in line, we had to park 3-4 blocks away from the DMV office. There was only a 20 minute wait when I had to get my license here.
