i'm looking to get my first tacoma and we heard from a dealer that 2009 was the year that Toyota offered some additional airbags in the second row of double cabs. Is this true? If so, safety is a main concern of mine and i would like to know all your thoughts about this.
    Thanks!

They're all pretty safe if you don't wreck 'em.

thanks for all the feedback guys but I'm wondering about new airbags or things along that line. Were any new side curtain airbags or safety features added to 2009 models and newer?

    Not true.

2005 - 2008 Double cabs had side curtain airbags as an option.

    2009 this option became standard.

Picture of my 2007 equipped with side curtain airbags:

Same with my 05... It has the curtain, seat, front passenger and driver airbags.... Where else could they be?

I am thinking they were options.. Probably standard after 09. I am guessing that is why the salesman was mentioning that the 09+ are safer.
