I don't know if this has been asked. But is it possible to hook this up to a stock 4Runner rear window switch?

It can be wired to virtually any 2-way rocker or power window switch. I can't see why a 4Runner switch would pose any kind of problem.

Ben, Couldn't you just trim the wires on the motor the opposite lengths than the normal window? That would give more reach for the track to the driver's side. And I wouldn't think it would matter if the window's motor was in the open or closed position since it is cable driven (not like a linear actuator). Then he might be able to mount it in the same position we did.

Also for those wanting to lock the rear window with this mod.
    1. You are using a power window motor so it is as secure as any other window on you truck without the latch.
    2. If you know you are going away for a while or don't want to open your window (say for the winter), you can loosen the hex nuts on the bracket and slide the window 1/16-1/8 of an inch to the right so it latches, then retighten the hex bolts. That latches and gives you the motor security. I would have to make a reminder for myself with was latched though before trying to open it again.

I love this mod and it works great.
I also agree with Ben that the rocker switch he has is more intuitive than most switches. Especially since I mounted mine under the climate controls in the dash and horizontally. Push right, window goes right (open- because you are facing forward). Push left, window goes left (closes).

    Hey Greg,

Not sure if I'm following what you are saying. If his window opens the opposite way, the regulator track would have to be mounted on the drivers side of center rather than passengers side of center (as ours are mounted), so he would have to mount the motor somewhere closer towards drivers side. I can swap out the cables such that the long one is on the passengers side and the short one is on the drivers side, no problem, which would put the motor even farther towards the drivers side bin. I'm sure it would all work just fine, but it would require mounting the motor somewhere inside the drivers side storage bin. I could be missing what you are trying to say, my brains are mush after a long afternoon of helicoptering.

    Hi arnsan,

PM me your zip code and I can calculate a shipping estimate and a total for you. Prefered payment is via PayPal, but I also accept other forms of payment. However PayPal requires an additional 3% fee to cover the PayPal seller's fee.

    thanks,
    Ben

I was just thinking that the extension might give it enough to reach from where we had it, but didn't think about the mod/cut to the top of the bin. It should fit in the driver's side bin. Check your pics.

Yep, I think it the motor would fit fine in the drivers side bin. I think the main thing to figure out would be how to keep the cables tidy, especially the longer one.

Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
What vehicle is the regulator system (track, cable, motor) designed for? (I'm assuming you've adapted an existing regulator, rather than create a new one from scratch?) Which vehicle?
Is the track something you designed and build yourself? (In the pic, the straight black part the cable runs through, where the window mount slides in). Or is it from a specific vehicle? Which vehicle?
Are you willing to sell pieces ala carte? Specifically, the two mounting brackets (track-to-truck, and the glue-on window mount).

I think you can see where I'm going with all these questions............

Which, if you consider it, may be your answer to coming up with the AC version...........

    Thanks!

Unfortunately, due to the way that I purchase parts and assemble and package the kits, I'm not able to sell the parts "ala carte".

    Thanks,

So how will you support the customer after purchase and installation of the system if something fails?

Not speaking for Ben, but there is quite a difference between warranty/maintenance parts and selling individual components.

Although the term "for the right price...." does seem to come to mind :)
