    I couldn't agree more...

I just read that one of my friend's has to pay sorority dues each month. Like really? Just to be labeled as one of the cool kids on campus and get fucked up every weekend (at least that's what her sorority does...)? Sorry, I just think frats and sororities are retarded.

I'm just speaking for her specifically, not necessarily in general. :p

I still think they're silly though. I'm more of a one man wolf pack.

as am I, but the benefits outweighed the cost, especially post college. If you play your cards right and stay active through leadership roles within the fraternity, you end up making a lot of connections. I ended up getting a job right out of college through the contacts I made.

Never was in one. Thought that it was a bit pointless. Most of the people that I knew in them were spolied kids that neeeded "connections" to get by in life. Just my opinions, my experiences, not saying anything about anyone on here.

It's awesome if you make connections and can control yourself and set your goals and are determined to reach them, it's just that all of my buddies joined frats to be cool and party, which is why I think they're stupid. Half of them probably don't even know what a fraternity will do for them. This girl I was referring to doesn't even know why she's in it. I asked her and she said "I don't really know, the other girls are pretty cool and I get free alcohol"....

Sorority's don't hold nearly the same moral standards, post-college benefits, and brotherhood that fraternity's offer. I understand that it's not everybody's cup of tea but some non-greeks come up with invalid arguments as to why they don't go greek without even breaking the suface of what it really is.

you have to be able to balance partying, school, and social. I stayed active in my fraternity, held position, and graduated cum laude in engineering. I also was busy non stop though.

There are a lot more to fraternities than people know, but there are DEFINITELY plenty of people who join just for the party/social aspect of it. If they want to spend their money just for exclusive parties, then let them. The money they are spending is funding many other events such as philanthropies.
