x2 that HREW price seams high but the DOM is pretty good for a small amount how much are you buying?

Yeah I think the DOM is worth the extra $1 a foot. I thought HREW would be a lot less than that

    Good price on DOM!
The HREW is definitely pretty high though. I'd go DOM for sure for that little bit of difference.

Pretty big, Im planning to make a rear bumper, its pretty complicated. Might just be better off making it out of individual pieces and just welding it all up. Trying to make it as strong as possible though.

You could have a shop do the bends for you, shouldn't cost too much.

I called about it awhile back when people were talking about chinese vs usa steel and they said the origin was one of the states back east, maybe Michigan? I assume that would mean usa steel? It is this place here so its not a little mom and pop shop

Yeah but i'm kinda just winging it, I hate to have them bend all of it and the thing not fit right. I really need to make a sort of blueprint of it.

Oh yeah for sure. This bumper is designed in a way that you can't start off with a piece of 2x4" square tube or something?

No but that would probably be a whole lot easier. I was going to make it shape something like this all the way around. ghetto design

Oh ok, yeah if you're careful you could cut the individual pieces. When I built a steel diamond plate toolbox for our trailer I had the plate cut at the steel place so that the edges would be perfectly square. They just needed a hand drawn blue print of each piece. Came out perfect and was pretty cheap.

I might just make something like in post #28, it looks fairly simple to build. I do believe its a CBI. I want it to be a high clearance but want it to look nice also, not like I just welded 3 pieces of square toob together and slapped it on the truck.

    Love that guy's truck.

If I ever build a rear bumper it's gonna look something like box rocket's. Love the simple clean look.
