OME (Again)

I have a set up on my truck already just wondering if I should change the coils or not.......depending on what websight you go off of answers to this question vary.......I have OME 881's on the truck now, just bought a front tube bumper from Low Range Off Road. I plan on getting a warn VR8000-S so total weight up front will be roughly 120 pounds. Should I buy 882's or will the 881's be just fine? Thanks in advance guys and gals, sorry to add another OME question to the list.

 

do you have a I4 or the V6?

If you have a v6, you should probalby go for the 882's. If you have a 4 cyl the 881 may be okay.

But, if i were you I would get the winch and see if your front end sags/see how it rides and then decide.

 

Why decide now? Since you already have the 881s run them and if they arent working well with the extra weight, buy the 882s then. No point in buying them yet if you already have 881s installed.

Yup yup....

I had the 881 coils on my 96 (3.4L). I also had a TJM T15 front bumper that weighed 75lbs by itself without a winch. The 881's gave me 2" of lift with that bumper.

 

What about the 883s with a Shrockworks bumper and warn xp9000 winch with steel cable? Would that work good?

 

883s are quite heavy-duty (given that the 882s are beefy already), and are more than capable of holding that. I would also recommend the N91S shocks, since they are the stiffer variant.

To the OP:
just use the 881s until they sag too much for your liking, then upgrade. They worked fine on my old 4cyl truck with an ARB for over a year. Rebuilding shock/coil setups is a PITA...I don't really like spring clamps.

 

I'd go with 882's...I'm sure ARB had some smart people developing their suspension system, and 883's are not designed for our trucks. 882's are designed for that weight, they will work. They are 20mm longer than 881's and the coil is thicker. Kurt Williams on expedition portal has an arb bumper, winch, dual batts, s/c, hot water shower etc up front and he's running 882's. If you need a lil extra lift you can add a small 10mm top plate spacer also, or a trim packer like Box Rocket.

 

Are you talking about the Rock Defense tube bumper?
