Pass side CV is getting angry at me (you can here the pop from time to time) and the center cap on that wheel took a crap other then that no carnage. No tow strap stucks, but my open/open got delayed a couple times.

Make sure it's the CV, then change it now. The longer you wait the more it starts leading to other issues. Get the CV from AutoZone, cheapest deal I've seen at $80 and it's the same thing as the dealership's $300 part.

If it isn't the CV, then it's the same pop I get that no one can figure out. I was worried about it until finding a 4Runner that said his entire group makes that sound.

Those autozone CV's suck from what I have heard and crack super easy.

I won't put one in my truck unless it's the only thing available.
I already have a OE replacement lined up (I hope). I'm not worried either way. It only makes noise when in 4x.

There was an article in one of the recent 4x4 mags about some near-bulletproof CV. I went to the company's wesbite and they were @ $2k or something. Eek! They used to use modified Porsche CVs in the older Toys I know.

I've been running an autozone CV for two years and wheeled pretty hard over the summer without any problems. :notsure:

I read in a magazine a while back about some RCV front drive shafts that were supposed to be able to handle harsher angles. Probably the same thing Rattler was talking about.

Oh yea? I read about them for the 1st gens, but they were probably discontinued as well.

Why did they stop selling them? To expensive?

RCV has no products listed for Toyotas anymore. I think there was a mention of someone else or them making them in Toyota 4WD Owner a couple issues ago though. They had a beta set or something.

You're fine, the AZ ones are just as good as the Toyota factory. Talked to a family friend (ex Toyota tech, didn't like the politics so opened his own shop), said there's no noticeable difference. $80 or $300ish, your choice.

Right, I noticed that. Yea, it seems like they mentioned them as being new in the magazine.

In the lifetime of my future taco..i will probably eventually go offroading and get it stuck..but just for giggles..went to a local lake with a gravel road around it...was driving slowly along the side with my huge camera out the window..was just driving idle straight ahead..and next thing i know my front passenger wheel spins in mud and im stuck! :D Of course I was driving my mazda 626 so..it aint exactly offroad..the bottom of the car was against the ground  So..a F250 comes along with a nice sized strap..connects it up and gives it a pull..SNAP! his strap didn't do poo! So..then a F350 comes along with a strap that would probably pull out a 18-wheeler!(not really) and..finally he just muscles me out..did some serious cleaning after that :D I never look away now when driving down that road lol
