Looks good to me, the only thing i would recommend is to lose all the holes on the skid part of the bumper and put the KC's you have in mind either behind the grill or on the top of the bumper. & im not sure but is that a tag or a hole for the winch fairlead?

Yeah I don,t think that I am going to put any holes down low on the skid. The light colored rectangular piece in the middle is a license plate. I just put it there out of curiosity. I don,t have any plans to put a winch in the bumper. I will fab it up so that if that changes in the future I will be able to. For now I am just going to stick KC's in there. I don't think that there is enough room between the grille and radiator for the KC's, they are over 6" deep. I will measure and see.

Yea 6" might be a bit much to ask for but if you did a flush mount tye grill instead of satoshi then i think it might work, my 7" lights are about 3 1/4 deep i think but also have an HID bulb sticking out the back and they dont touch th mesh with it as deep as it'll go

When I get home this evening I'll pull it in the shop and measure. Maybe I can get away with it if i have a flush mount. If I can it would be a great excuse to make myself a new grille and color match it to my truck. I should have thought ahead and gotten some slimlights.

Nice, A buddy of mine just graduated from their Engineering program last spring. I would have CBI build me a bumper but one of my riding buddies owns a fabrication shop so I am just going to use his stuff to build my bumper.

I got my CB in the mail today and started to install it where the ash try is but it's to big so I cut some of the plastic back but never got finished so I'll finish in the morning. I was using a 10 dollar dremel knock off which sucked balls. Now I'm just waiting on my antenna.

You might be able to, but I couldn't say how flush it would actually be. Technically the bumper sits at the same height and goes across evenly, so in theory it would.

Check out that link I put up, it's got a ton of info on it. The only thing the bumper mounts to is 2 brackets / arms, and because the newer bumper is different, the brackets length and what not changes, so you have to get the ones that also go with the 01. They bolt to the same place on the core support. Otherwise, you use what's already on there. Same stuff that holds the old bumper on. There's that plastic bumper cover too, and the lower valance w/ turn signals.

If the writeup on customtaco's doesn't make sense, tell me exactly what you are trying to do here and I'll help ya.

    Here's a diagram:

i guess my question is (say the 99 grill works) what do i need for the bumper to mount? just the 2001 brackets? or do i need the reinforcment bar too?

I think you linked a shopping basket, says empty basket when I click.

When referencing this: If you are talking about the "Bumper Cover" specifically, then no, I don't think that will sit on the 99 chrome bumper like it sits on the 01 bumper. That bumper cover is for a flat crescent shaped bumper. Our 99 bumpers look like this:

    DSC03504_94caa85515d0bb215fddd5510f11276ac8458dea.jpg

They have indentions on the top where the other plastic piece is lays over the middle, so it wouldn't sit flush. Plus the chrome bumper piece doesn't stick out far enough, the plastic would probably over hang a little.

If you're talking about the "Valance Panel" (again referencing that above link) I can tell you no, just by looking at it. The Valance Panel has that center area that juts up into the bottom of the 01 bumper, and the bumper has an indention for it. See this:

Simply looking at the pics, it wouldn't come close. Ours don't have somewhere for the top part of the Valance Panel to go. Not without some fabricating and improv.

If you're going for just those fog lights, keep in mind our turn signals are only turn signals. So it doesn't act as a day light like fog lights would. It either blinks or it's off. The 01's have 3 wires coming from the trucks wiring harness that allow it to stay on and blink when needed. So those lights you see on my truck only act as turn signals.

But I suppose if you somehow bypassed the electrical problem, you might get away with getting the Bumper (see the above link for what "Bumper" points to), those 2 arms for mounting it, Bumper Cover, and the Valance Panel. Those may fit underneath the 99's headlights, headlight fillers, and grill. I never played around to see if it would, I just took all mine off then put all the 01 stuff on - pulling strings when I needed to.

Yeah I did mine because I always wanted the 01 Taco, but when a 99 TRD came my way with low mileage, black, and a good price, i couldn't pass it up. Always thought it shouldn't be too hard to convert the front if I ever wanted to, then I came across that link from customtacos, got all the parts, and got it done in a day. It's really not all that hard and everything ended up fitting more flush than I expected.

Thanks, I'm glad it turned out as flush as it did. Few folks from customtacos did it and had fitment issues. I was the first 99 to do it, I got off lucky because the 99 core support is closer to the 01's. Very little cutting.

The bumper was the easy part. It was the headlight assembly that was the most troublesome. Everything else pretty much bolted up.

Installation had some problems, but I had a rough guide to go by and a general idea. So far it's turned out great, nothing coming loose. I trust it as much as the last bumper.

Thanks! Surprised no ones tried it here before. I keep thinking I should make shift some sort of guide, but I don't have any pictures of the process. And it's specifically for the 99-01, I know it changes based off your year.

New Grille is on! Many hours put into this thing... Had a hard time with bondo and fiberglass. And an even harder time with the paint. Turned out pretty good. Still needs an emblem for the mesh. Now i need a new hood

Working on the write up right now. Ill link it here and in my sig.
