The exhaust is routed behind the transfer case instead of below it. You don't have a transfer case, so I think yours is routed similar to this from the factory. I can't understand for the life of me why they decided it was to far back to go behind and went lower than the frame on the 4x4 trucks.

I had the muffler shop put a transfer case in ;).

    Sorry... couldn't resist.

I did it in hopes of getting an extra 1/5" of clearance with my skids. BudBuilt's site says that you can eliminate the use of the spacer bar on the crossmember if you have the exhaust rerouted.

    That statement is 100% accurate.

However, you lose the totally smooth bottom, and have a 1.5" step down from the mid skid to the t-case skid. I talked to a guy I know in CO who has wheeled this setup really hard, and he said he preferred having the smooth belly in case you drag on an obstacle and have to reverse out. No chance to get hung up on that step down.

I ended up still using the spacer and keeping the smooth surface. It did give me about 1-1.5mpg back though it seems like.

It might not be my truck. It makes me laugh, when I got my truck I thought nobody around had a truck my color, then there are three in my neighborhood alone.

That's nice. What kind of exhaust did you go with on your truck? Does it have a nice sound?

Cool. Yeah, JC, I only had the pipes redone for the purpose of installing the skids. I used to have an Acura Integra that had exhaust on it. It sounded REALLY good for an I4 engine, and wasn't too loud. Even as loud as it was though I got really tired of it on road trips and stuff. I've toyed with the idea of doing something a little louder / rumblier with the truck, but I kinda like it being quiet. Guess I'm getting old.

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
I hear you on that. I had an 03 z71 before my taco and had a flowmaster exhaust on it. When the cats started failing I was too poor to replace them so I just straigh piped instead of new cats. My truck was so loud that you couldn't hear music in the cab. I ran like that for a year.

So now I really enjoy driving a quiet vehicle.

Okay, maybe it wasn't you. I'm sure you would know my truck if you see it though. Intact I'll be at express tire in alabaster this afternoon getting an alignment.

Yeah, I am looking for something more rumblier than loud. I mean obviously you will get a little more loud with it, but I want more rumblier.

I think I might have seen your truck before. BTW, I was looking at your pictures and that Taco you have a picture of next to Healthy Harveys in Pelham makes my mouth water. I see that truck every morning on my way to work. I'm sure he is on here somewhere, but I love that truck. Almost made we want to trade mine in on a black one, but I love my blue a lot.
