As soon as I get time to head out to Ontario (possibly during a K1 meet) I'd like to have you set up mine exactly like yours. Glad knowing I'm 20 minutes from you.

BTW, how did some members get different color needles? Paint only or ordered?

Let me share my experience. I saw the links to the guides on here how to mod the LED's on the cluster and was excited to do it to mine. I would say that I am very comfortable with soldering as I've done so for various computer components so I wasn't worried at all. I think where I went wrong was using a battery powered soldering iron. It wouldn't get hot enough to make it easy to remove and replace the LED's on the PCB board. So I would hold the iron on the connector for what probably was too long. Now only 1 needle lights up and nothing else. I figured maybe that I had the LED's backwards(polarity) so I flipped them around...no improvement. I even ordered and soldered on new LED's but ended up with the same result.

Frustrated I ordered another cluster off of ebay because I couldn't see my gauges at night. What I was bummed to find out was that the Odometer mileage is stored in the cluster and not in the computer. So now my mileage is incorrect.

Lessons learned. Don't ever use a battery powered soldering gun for this...ever. Be very careful about how long you have the soldering iron tip on the area. Use tweezers to hold the LED's while installing.

I really I wish I either had the confidence/ability to try this myself OR I lived close enough to someone that did. I ended up breaking my speedo needle while I was trying to unplug my TPS light.... So, it's time to get a replacement cluster, and I'd REALLY like to upgrade to some white/blue LED's/Needles.

    Opinion's on this cluster:

It will work...just it won't have the same mileage as your original cluster...

What was your method of attack for the radio/CD display? Did you unsolder all of the pins, remove the display, and change the LEDs underneath? Or did you only remove the chrome frame and then carefully pull up on one side of the display to gain access to the LEDs underneath? Any other tips you noticed along the way with the radio LED mod?

I have an extra radio, all torn apart and ready to go, but it's a 6-CD changer whereas my OEM is just the single, so if I can fully preserve the 6's functioning while completely changing out the LEDs, I'd like to!
