OME - take out the add a leaf?

    I have had my OME kit on for over 3 months now carrying a 300-400 lb load in the bed in hopes of settling the rear.

    881's front with new dakar pacs in the rear with the D6XL AAL installed as well.

    The rear was too high with the AAL....thought she would settle but took the load off yesterday and she came up 1.5 inches in the rear....no settling at all.

    Want to take out the AAL ....would this be a wise choice....would it go down 1.5 inches in the rear after AAL removal?

    I can always put them back in a few years down the road if she starts to sag.

    Thanks for any opinions or advice!!

    Do you mean the overload ? or did you get an additional OME AAL ?

    Yes I did install an additional OME AAL as I really work the little truck....so thats what I am thinking of taking out...thanks OZ

    It's better in my opinion to keep the leaf and have the added capacity versus removing it for a better ride/looks.

    Yes I do agree with you on this point....just getting tired of lugging around the load in the bed (patio stones) ...tough on MPG and the 2.7 is way more peppy with no load

    I am just trying to decide what to do at this point....the load is sure nice when the roads are snow covered!

    Thanks OZ....this is where I am torn on the decision.....

    And I can always put the AAL back in down the road when needed

    Then again I have an O6 Tundra that rides like a camry for the long hauls....buy I tend to always be in my Taco.....

    Appreciate all the opinions...keep them comming!

    Just take it out , use your truck as you normally would , if the regular pack is enough for your hauling needs , leave it out .

    If you find the regular pack is insufficient , put it back in .

    Not that big a deal .

    I don't see why you wouldn't just leave it. It makes it a better truck, not a car.

    That becomes impractical; this does little to change the overall truck - it does however make it practically more capable. The AAL is already there, and taking it out would decrease the haul/load performance, which is what a truck is for. If you wanted 5 or 6 more, get a one ton.

    He's already got a more capable than stock truck by adding the Dakars , but finds the ride too stiff .

    Removing the AAL may leave him with a truck more capable than he needs and also improve the ride .

    The OME AAL are meant for vehicles carrying extra weight all the time .
