How to replace the studs for the top plate spacer?

How do I get these original studs out? I've already taken apart the other strut, and beat on the studs with a hammer, but they won't budge. . . I put it in the freezer for a min to see if it will loosen up a little. Am I missing something? Lol. HALLLLLP




little info: I'm installing the 1/2" OME trim package.

 

what kind of press? and would a local store have one?

 

not likely you'll need a pretty heavy duty press 6-8 tons should do the trick

 

do you know if oreily's will press them, or will I need to find an actual shop?

 

i have no idea what orileys is capable of doing... i would take them to a real shop and pay 20 bucks to have them pressed out and new ones pressed in

 

I had to do the same thing on my Pathfinder...a hammer just wouldn't budge it...2 lb sledge took all 6 studs out in a few swings each...

 

Ether put a socket under it or if u have a vice open it enuff for the stud to go down but support the plate 2-3 lb sledge should do it.

 

You can use a vice to press out the studs. That's what I did on mine. Use a socket to support the plate.

 

Thanks guys! The socket trick/sledge worked! I'll post some pics later. Went and played hard last night after the install. Only scrubbed a few times! After an alignment, hopefully it doesn't scrub at all.
