Painting Stock Bumper?

Has anyone painted their front stock plastic bumper? Im think about painting it with some matte black high quality spray paint. good idea? pics and advice very welcome!!!

Don't use regular spray paint. Go to autozone or advanced and get duplicolor vinyl and plastic dye. Its called Duplicolor vinyl and fabric.

It literally soaks into the plastic and wont flake off.

I did my valence and grill with the stuff. Great stuff.

 

You can always plasti-derp it for a test run.

The duplicolor stuff is like $6. You will only need one can.

 

what about rustoloem bedlinner? i did it one an offorad bumper after i primmed it and it was awesome and it has a rought texture

 

Yeah, its pretty good stuff. But wont look nearly as good as the other stuff. It makes it look factory black.

 

ok cool. any sugestions for the rear stock bumper? i want it black too haha

 

Sand down the chrome good and hit it w/ some good spray paint. My favorite rattle can paints are krylon and duplicolor.

I think the bed linder would be a better choice for the metal rear bumper though.

45acp gave me his rear bumper which he just rattle can'd and it looks great....

...sitting in my garage because I haven't had the time to put the friggen thing on

 

I didn't mean the bed liner would be better on the metal, just better on the metal than on the plastic. Personally I would just regular spray paint. Looks cleaner...IMO.

 

acutally im doing right now but i just sand it down with some 100 grit paper or?

 

so in my 99 front bumper theirs chrom inserts what spray can should i use? like will one type of spray paint work both for the plastic bumper and the chrome or?

 

Make sure you sand it, primer it, maybe sand it some more then put whatever spray you use it'll hel to keep it from flaking when i did mine i used the same spray for the chrome

 

So i ended up painted it will some rattle can bedlinner about 3 months ago and its starting to chip real bad.... i was thinking about buying a can of herculinner bedliner and painting the bumper again after i remove the rest of the old spray paint? should i do that or just buy that spary paint made for plastics?

Did you rattle can bed liner the whole bumper/valence or just the chrome inserts?

 

rattle can'd the whole bumper(plastic and the chrome inserts) cause the black plastic was fading
