Saw this 96 land cruiser this morning. It had 168K miles, lifted, straight body, good interior. They want a little much but was curious about it and have zero knowledge of these vehicles. Have anyo f you guys had one or are they piles of scrap?

The 80 series Landcruisers do go forever, they are great vehicles and very reliable.

The only downsides in my opinion is the gas mileage which stock, is only around 15 in the city at best so it will be even worse with the lift and tires. Secondly, the 4.5 liter is not very powerful and doesn't have that feeling of having a whole lot of pickup or passing power. This is something that you do get used to though, however it was always something that I noticed and wished they had more of.

Other than that, they are excellent vehicles that seem to just go and go and go with proper maintenance. Our's had over 200K when it was sold and was in fantastic shape, wished it was still around because they are just great vehicles. The optional front and rear lockers are great and make them very capable trucks. If you were serious about buying it, I would have it checked out at a certified mechanic though just make sure everything seems in check and that there are no surprises. Things don't go wrong very often, but from what I can remember, parts were more on the expensive side of things for these trucks.

    Good luck!

    Too many to list.

My neighbor just sold a Toyota Landcruiser ('99 I think) with 300,000 miles on it for around $6,500'ish... I offered him $3,500 but he wouldn't take it LOL

And that's another thing, they hold their value very very well.

It's not uncommon at all to see them in the teens for ones with lower mileage.

I love my '93! It's got 275k miles on it and has been awesome. I have wheeled it a lot and if you have a family they are a great family wheeler. Check to see if it has factory locking diffs. There will be a dial on the dash just left of the steering wheel. If that truck has lockers that's a pretty good price for that mileage.

It was raining when I took the picture so I didn't crawl underneath. That was a nightmare in itself. So I havnt even bothered calling back to see the engine bay.. Thanks guys for the insight... You will never know when you can come across a great deal. But that was a pepper in goats ass when it comes to my horrible luck:)
