OK here is my problem. My dome light dose not come on when i remove my key from the ignition. It works fine with the doors and with the switch.I assume that it is probably a problem in my ignition switch but i was wondering if there are any other problem areas to look for. If it is the ignition switch is is just a replacement or a fix i can do? Thanks for any info!

I can't even remember if mine come on when you turn off the truck and pull the key out. Are they supposed to? :)

I doubt the ignition switch directly controls the lighting. Look at the wiring schematic, but if that function exists it is probably in the body computer--so I wouldn't just replace the switch. If the switch positions work (ACC, ON, Start, etc) then it's something else.

Get a multimeter or test light and check to see if you are getting power at the light then go from there.

If your truck is an 02, that function is controlled by the integration relay. If it is faulty, the cost to fix it would be waaaayyy more than its worth.

AFAIK, It doesn't turn on until the doors are opened.

If you open the door with the key off, but still in the ignition, does the truck beep? There is a switch contact inside the ignition switch that tells the computer the key is in the ignition. If removing the key is supposed to trigger the dome light, and the switch is bad, that feature would stop working. I don't know what is normal behavior on a first gen. My second gen does not turn on the lights when I remove the key. I have to open the door.
