Yeah, people throw this figure around a lot. I maybe believe it on the old style, I know there were complaints with the awkward/fragile battery cover. I don't know of any major issues with the new transverse covers with screwcap.

I forgot that Trijicon does have reflex sights, but the ones I've looked through are oddly tinted. I think if they made a true 1x ACOG, it would sell well!

I have one of their reflex sights that mount on my A2 handle. Can still see the manual sights through the glass. Powered by fiber optic in light and tritium at night. No batteries to worry about.

Dude check the link out I put up. It is a true red dot sight, not one of their reflex sights. It has a solar power panel on the top of it so it doesn't need batteries in the daylight and it has batteries for the night. They also say with this set up the batteries are giving the Aimpoints a run for their money as far as battery life. Depending on uses they said it can run up to ten years on one battery. Plus its a Trijicon so you know the thing is going to work in hell.

That's pretty cool. GOod idea on the solar, too. Especially for military use - those guys are outside all day! Dear Trijicon - can I get it with a green dot please? :)

Oh, by the way - changed my mind again on the build. I think I'm going to buy a DD upper with the pinned A2 sight on a mid-length barrel and the Omega rail. I can build it about as cheap, but not when you factor in the hammer forged barrel. Plus it's worth a little premium to have it run correctly right out of the box.

    https://danieldefense.com/upper-receiver-groups/daniel-defense-m4-urg-v3.html

Will probably mate it with a Vltor Imod unless someone has a better suggestion. I already have an A1 rear sight so I'll have an extra to sell. Should offset $40 or so of the cost.

I wish I would man up on drop the coin on a DD. I probably will for my next 5.56.

I have most of my next build figured out:
RRA lower with single stage and Operator CAR stock (FFL friend gets them cheap)
    BCM upper receiver and BCG
    PRI Gas Buster
    TROY VTAC 15" rail

Haven't decided on a barrel yet but maybe you guys can help.

here's a hint for caliber, the rifle is getting fitted with a AAC-762SDN6 :headbang:

Sounds like a solid build! 300 BLK I assume? The sdn6 is a great choice for even a 5.56 gun because you can use it on anything 30 cal and smaller. My build will have a FH for my 762SD as well!

Street price is the same as the Aimpoint M4S. Probably more than I want to spend on my PSD's RDS, but attainable. Reminds me I need to start saving up for that thing because it will be here before I know it.

As in Short Barrel Rifle registered anything shorter than 16" on a rifle needs a SBR tax stamp

That was the question - is it a FA gun? If not, it's an odd way to say it. You usually hear "I'm building a 12.5" SBR or Pistol". Pointing out a registered receiver makes me think full auto, and of course the Gov't doesn't care how short you make your registered machine gun, there are no extra stamps.

Good point on the timeline though.
