have a few questions about a lift

im wanting to put a lift on my 99 xtra cab that is a DD and hunting/offroad truck. I've search and these are the questions that i couldn't find an exact answer to. My questions are:

• How high can you lift it without having to put a diff drop on it.
• Will a 1in. body lift hurt my truck structurally
• If i put a lift on my tuck do i need to change anything like steering, brake lines,etc.
• Is a spacer lift bad.
• Do i need to worry about axle wrap if i put a AAL with a shackle.

If there is anything else i need to know before pulling the trigger on the lift please let me know. thanks alot

 

diff drops are easy a cheap

o yeah forgot to put that i just replaced my shocks and struts less than 2000 miles ago. I paid close to 300 dollars to replace them i don't really want to replace them again. That is why i asked about a spacer lift. Thanks alot

 

you replaced your shocks and struts? what about your coils? if you didnt change your coils i think you can put the ome coils on....you will have to ask sombody else about this option because those coils might only be compatible with ome shocks

 

No i didn't replace my coils. I'm 16 years old ,and figured i would listen to my dad to just get shocks and struts. I'm sure someone will chime in if the are compatible.

 

I mean spacers will work for just a dd but i have seen firsthand what happens when you wheel them and hit a stump hard enough.....CRACK!

 

I don't plan on any hard core wheeling but alot of hunting. Also i want some extra room for some bigger tires. Thanks alot guys, yall have answered my question.

 

no spacers, no body lift. both ride like shit. Get some OME or Eibach coils and axle wrap shouldn't be a prob.

differential drops are a scam. they dont really work and just make ur diff. hang lower to rocks.

I wouldnt call them a scam. Some trucks need them.....others don't. I got 3" of lift and didnt put it in. keep in mind the diff drop also makes the stock skids and most aftermarket skids unable to be installed.

 

Not true...I have a diff drop and my stock skids fit fine.

This & I don't know how dropping the diff an inch or so to straighten out CV angle can be called a scam....

 

Right, 30 bucks to decreasd cv angles is a scam..

 

happy with my diff drop....like the stress free cv angles

had to install the supplied spacers to fit the stock skid back on....was a tight fit

 

well sooorrryy i dont see the point of them if you can do the boot slide mod. like 5-10 bucks vs. 30

 

Not talking about torn CV boots, more about CV angle & the increased stress on all those front end CV "pussy parts" as I call them.

 

Although now that you bring it up, getting the CV's to a more "natural" level angle you probably wont need the boot slide MOD

 

I guess theirs two ways to look at it. I'm not going to argue with you i guess whatever floats your boat you know. The Op's question has been answered, and he has two ways to look at preserving his cv's.

 

Well yet another question if I buy eibach coils and billy struts do they come with a top plate and studs or do I have to use my stock ones. Also I'm wanting about three inches of lift what leaf springs do i get. I know this old an old thread but i figured no news in starting a new on.

 

your stock top plate and studs should work fine. Thats how I did mine. do you want a rake look or level? if you like a rake, get All Pro Expo leaf packs.... if you want a level look, get wheeler leaf pack or deaver J59's
