    Last Monday my detachment commander gave me the phone call I've been waiting for since I started my freshman year at Texas Tech. He said that Air Force rated positions had finally came through and I was picked up for a pilot's slot. It still hasn't hit me that I will have the opportunity to serve my country by flying some of the most bad ass military equipment the world has ever seen. Not to mention work with the most well trained and professional people in the world.

    It looks like after I commission in Dec. I will have 2 places to go. Vance AFB, in Oklahoma or Columbus AFB, in Alabama, to start undergraduate pilot training.

    Next April I have to go and get my flight physical taken care of. It consist of 3 days of poking and prodding in quite possibly the most humiliating of circumstances:eek:

    Ehh...Flight Physicals aren't that bad. For CG you aren't required to get the cold hand check from behind until age 40...

    Congrats to you and thanks. I've flown into Enid, OK several times to the civilian airport KWDG a couple of times. Always a lot of trainer activity coming off of Vance AFB. There is a VFR corridor a few miles off the departure end of KEND's parallel 35 runways. Always interesting flying there...we can't hear the Air Force guys, but the ATC guys are talking to both civilians and military aircraft. Fast movers 10 o'clock level, 3 miles...I hope they are looking!

    Lucky bastard... I mean Way to go Brotha'!!! I work at what used to be Williams Air Force base and there are still a lot of trainers that come in and out of here. Saw a T-38 banking 90 degrees doing a downwind departure as I was coming back from lunch yesterday and though how much fun that must be. No matter what you fly, whether you're moving fast and pulling G's or low and slow dropping cargo, it's a blast. May the skies be clear ahead of you and the winds be steady at your tail. :salute: :plane:
