I've installed a Wheelers progressive 3 leaf pack with the smallest leaf removed and i left my overload spring in. So i ordered the rear 5100 with the 3"+ option. My rear now measures 23" from centre of hub to fender flare. My question did i order the correct shock? I got the wheelers pack used so its probably settled. My front is sitting at 20.5 im wondering what setting I should put the fronts in at with my stock springs. FYI im really not trying to get much lift don't plan on running bigger tire's and don't mind a little stock rake.

Down South thats who i ordered them from. According to the dealers around here the 5100's are only good for 1" lift. So i just assumed i needed the longer version for my truck but am afraid of ending up with shocks that are to long now.

Stock ride height is 20" in front, 22" in back (on average). If you have the 24" extended length 5100s then they should be fine. The bottom line is that when the suspension is at full droop, there should still be a little shock extension left. When you hit the bumps there should be some compression travel left on the shock.

    5100s are for 1-3" lift i believe
    5125s are 3-4" of lift

I've seen the 24" 5100s listed that way, but it's not true. For a 3" lift you need a 27" shock.

The longer 5100's are for the tundras, but will also work for the tacomas if you're running more than 2" of lift in the rear IIRC.

The standard 5100's will work from stock travel to 2" of lift (depending on the website you visit, some will say they work up to 3" of lift although they will top out ane eventually break if you try them at 3"). The extended 5100's are suited for 3 - 4" of lift which means you have a grey area between 2" of lift and 3" of lift as far as the 5100's are concerned.

OP, I've got the TSB pack, Icon 3-leaf AAL and the overload in place and am using standard length 5100's without any issues. My measurement from center of hub to the fender is 24". You'll be fine with the standard travel 5100's. If you already ordered the longer version, just make sure you hit the bump stops before the shock bottoms out or you'll break the shock when you flex the truck out.

Rear 5100's come in two sizes, for 1-2" lifts and 3-4" lifts.

5125's come in half a dozen or so custom lengths.

6 + overload on standard 5100's. The Icon AAL leafs are pretty thin though. I don't flex out the truck like many of the off roaders on this website, otherwise I might have a problem but for normal driving and light trail rides, I have yet to top out the rear shocks.

Nope, I'm right about at 2" of lift +/-, depending on what you consider stock height (TSB or non-TSB). Someone earlier said rear stock height is around 22" from the center of the hub to the fender, I'm sitting at 24". I'd be SOL if I had standard 5100's with that lift, and major barracuda style ride!

From what everyone's saying my truck has at about 1" of lift with the centre hub measuring 23". So all i need are the regular 5100's. I left a message for DS to change my order. Im surprised that I only got 1" of lift it looks like a bigger change than that to me.

Articulation and lift both play a role. It's not a bad idea to jack the rear of your truck till the wheel is off the ground and check the shock. It only takes one good whack to damage a shcok. Unless you have excess travel left in the shock, you'd be wise to install limiting straps

Limiting straps for a 2 - 3" lift?? I'm pretty sure my shocks are what limit my downtravel but they shouldn't top out hard, that's the whole purpose of the shock absorbers. I believe even when stock, the shock is what limits downtravel if you jack the truck up by the frame.

I understand the purpose of limiting straps and I know what you're trying to say but there's a lot more to it than simply stating "Unless you have excess travel left in the shock, you'd be wise to install limiting straps."
